A/N - Anything in italics are thoughts.

I pulled up and parked in my driveway. I turned off my car, stepped out and was surprised to see Demi sat on my front door step with her two dogs, a small suitcase and a backpack. I cautiously made my way towards her and noticed that her eyes were red and puffy. 'Had she been crying?' I thought, frowning in confusion. As I approached I knelt down in front of her, dropping my purse onto the floor next to me and grabbed her hands in mine. She flinched a little and lifted her head to look at me, "Oh, hey Payton." she said with a half-hearted smile and a sniffle. "Hey Dems, what's going on?" I asked softly with a gentle, friendly smile. She took a deep breath and sighed, "Me and my boyfriend or should I say ex-boyfriend got into an arguement and he told me to leave." she says quietly with a nervous chuckle.

I nodded my head, let go of her hands, grabbed my purse and stood up, pulling her up along with me. "Come on, lets get you guys inside." I said with a smile and pulled out my keys from my bag to unlock the door. Once inside, I guided them into the living room and told Demi that she could let the dogs wonder about. I opened one of the porch doors enough for them to go in and out of if needed before informing Demi that the pool area was fenced off  and separate from the grassed section of the backyard so she wouldn't worry to much about them.

We flopped down onto the couch next to each other and I turned to face her, "You and your dogs are more than welcome to stay here with me for as long as you need, okay." I tell her and I could see she was apprehensive but I could tell by the look in her eyes that she was grateful. "Thank you so much and I'm sorry for just showing up on your doorstep but I didn't know where else to go." she says looking down at her hands that were resting in her lap. I gently place a finger under her chin, tilting it up so she is looking at me and reply, "No need to be sorry Demi, it's what good friends are for." I pull her in for a tight hug when she starts tearing up again and I let her cry into my shoulder.

After a few minutes, Demi calms down and pulls away whilst wiping her eyes. Her dogs Barry and Luna run in from outside and jump on us, making us laugh. I can hear my wolf whining with happiness being around other canines again. I look up at Demi to find her already looking at me smiling, I smile back at her and can't help but think how beautiful she looks right now. It takes every ounce of restraint I have not to lean in and kiss her right now, she's just been dumped for gods sake. A little while later the dogs have calmed down and I see Demi yawn, "Come on, I'll show you to the spare room and bathroom for tonight and tomorrow I'll give you a proper tour around the place." I say to which she nods and follows me up the stairs with her bags.

I show her the bathroom as we pass it, telling her there are fresh towels on the rack if she wants to shower. I stop outside the spare room door and open it up for her to enter, she gives me a brief hug and a thank you before heading in. I leave her to get settled in but not before informing her that if she needed anything that my room was just across the hall. I went into my bedroom to shower and change before jumping into bed, ready to sleep.
