Chapter 12

We spent the rest of the day playing with Barry and Luna, working out in my home gym, watching movies, cooking lunch together and ordering pizza for dinner. Under the circumstances, today was a good day. That was... until later that night...

It was around 10:30pm that night and me and Demi were sat curled up on the couch with Barry and Luna watching a movie when all of a sudden I felt a sharp, stabbing pain shoot up my spine. I tried my best to hid it from Demi but I let out a low, almost inaudible whimper and the dogs looked up at me whilst whining and growling. They jumped off of the couch and lay down infront of me still whining, Demi looked confused and said, "Uhm okay, thats a little weird." pointing to her dogs. Then she turned to me and asked, "Payton are you okay?" I looked over to her and nodded, "Yeah uhm I'm okay." I say with a small smile. Her brow furrows but she doesn't push it.

"I'm gunna head to bed, I'm kinda tired." She says yawning as the movie ends and I just nod in response. Once Demi leaves and heads upstairs, I walk into the kitchen to grab a glass of water and down the entire thing. Walking back to the living room to fetch my phone, I start feeling a little light-headed but shake it off and keep going to get my phone. I make it to the door frame before I collape, the last thing I see and hear before everything goes black is Barry and Luna running to me barking.

Demi's POV

As I finish my nightly routine in the bathroom, I suddenly hear my dogs start to bark. I make my way downstairs but before get all the way down, I see Payton laying on the floor with Barry and Luna standing over her still barking. I rush the last few steps and fall to my knees next to her calling her name. I check to make sure she's breathing - thankfully she is - and gently tap her cheek, "Payton... Payton... Come on Payton, I need to you wake up." I say softly. Then, Barry and Luna starts licking her face, causing me to giggle. Payton eyes slowly flutter open a few moments later and groans. Holding her head she sits up, "What happened?" she asks, "I don't know. I was finishing up in the bathroom when I heard the dogs start to bark. When I came down you were on the floor passed out." I tell her, "Come on, lets get you to bed." I continued and helped her up to her room and into bed.

I was about to leave but she grabs my hand, "Stay, please." She says, I nodded and climbing in next to her. She curled up into my side and I couldn't help but smile down at her now sleeping form. I kissed the top of her head, holding her close and fell asleep myself moments later.
