Chapter 13

TW - There will be a small amount of swearing in this chapter.

It's been a few days since the night I fainted. Me and Demi have grown a lot closer since she's been staying with me and it's been really good but I couldn't help noticing that I'm thinking about her more and more.

I was in the process of plating up our lunch when my phone starts ringing. Demi walks in with it in her hand and passes it to me, saying she'd finish up. I thank her grabbing hold of my phone and walking off into the living room. "Hello." I say, answering my phone without checking caller ID. "Hey kiddo, how've you been?" A wide smile forms on my face when I hear his voice.

The one and only, Gunner Henderson.

I squeal excitedly, "Gunner. Oh my god. I'm good. How are you? It's been a while." He laughs, "Yeah it has but I've been good, missing my favourite trainee but ya know." I couldn't help but chuckle. I sit down on the coach and we talk for a few minutes before Luna jumps on me licking my face, "Luna stop." I say laughing. "Who's Luna?" Gunner asks, sounding confused so I explain that none other than Rhea Ripley and her two dogs - Barry and Luna - are staying with me. He had a bit of a hard time believing me so I get up off the coach and walk into the kitchen where Demi is drying off her hands after washing up her plate. "Here, my friend Gunner doesn't believe that Rhea Ripley is staying in my house. Talk to him." I say handing her my phone. She chuckles, takes my phone and starts talking to Gunner whilst I sit down to eat lunch.

After lunch and talking to Gunner, me and Demi decided that we were going to take the dogs for a walk. We had been walking around the neighbourhood for about 15 minutes and were currently sat on a bench at the dog park near my house just talking and laughing, when all of sudden Demi went really quiet and her face fell. I furrowed my brow in confusion and concern and asked, "Hey, you okay." I can hear her heartbeat quicken a little thanks to my enhanced hearing but obviously don't comment on it. She looks me dead in the eye and tells me her ex is walking towards us.

I grab her hand and reassure her that no matter what happens, I'm gunna stay by her side. She lets out a breath and smiles, thanking me quietly just as her ex comes to a stop infront of us. "Demi, it's been a few days now. Stop being stupid and come home." He says to which she scoffs and says, "Not happening." I try and keep my attention on the dogs, to give them a little privacy but when he looks at me and makes a snide comment under his breath, I snap my head up to look at him. "Excuse me but who the fuck do you think you are." I spit out, glaring at him.

He looked back at me confused, "I have above average hearing dude, I heard what you said." I say, clarifying what I ment. His eyes went wide for a second before he shrugged it off. Demi passed me the dog leads and asked me to go get the dogs ready to go whilst she dealt with her ex. I nodded and stood up, walking off and calling for Barry and Luna. I clipped on their leads and turn around to walk back towards Demi but when I do, I don't like what I see. She was stood infront of her ex and he had her pulled close to him by one of her arms, tightly holding it whilst speaking harshly in her ear.

Barry and Luna start growling and stalking towards them with their ears back, baring their teeth. Demi looks over - looking terrified - when she hears them growling. I get them to hush with a slight tug on their leads and a low growl of my own that only they could hear and we make our way over. He lets go of her arm and I hand Demi the dogs leads before stepping inbetween them, glaring up at her ex. "I don't know who you think you are but if what I've witnessed today is anything remotely close to what happened the other night when I came home to find Demi in tears sat on my doorstep, then you are in for a fuck ton a hurt." I spat out.

"Don't bother Demi again." I take a step forward. "Don't even think about Demi again." I take another step. "Because if you do and I find out..." I take a third step forward, he backs up with every step I take and after the third step, he trips over a tree root I created behind him, "You will be in for a fuck ton of pain." I finish crouching over him, flashing my wolf eyes. He scurries back and runs away scared and I take a deep breathe to calm down a little before turning back to Demi. She pulls me into a hug, thanking me for sticking up for her and I hug her back. We pull away and head home, enjoying the rest of our day together before heading to bed.
