Nicks Pov:

Charlie pushes past me and I feel my heart shatter. I'm not sure we will ever recover for this. I stand outside his door debating knocking. "You should give him some space." Jackson sighs behind me. "Why couldn't you just tell him you were in love with him." I turn around shocked. "Come on Nick, we all know. Ryker just got tired of waiting for you to do something about it." I look down embarrassed. Have I always been this obvious? "I don't know." I look up. "Rykers my best friend." "I know" "don't fuck this up for him. You got that?" He takes a step closer. "I'm your friend too though." He places his hand on my shoulder. I nod my head. "Just go." He stares directly at me. I nod my head and brush past him. I decide to go find Max.

Max's Pov:

I hear the door to the locker room open and I turn around. "I told you to leave me alone." I yell tears still streaming down my face. Nick takes a step back startled. I look down embarrassed. "I thought you were Ryker." "I got that" he rolls his eyes. "Why?" He takes a few steps forward. "I don't know I just wanted him to leave. I knew it would hurt him." He nods his head and sits next to me. "You shouldn't have done it that way." He sighs. "I know" is all I can manage to get out. We sit there in silence for a few moments. "Does Charlie hate you now? I assume Ryker told him." "Yeah. I think so" he sighs. "I'm sorry." I look down and tears start to fall again. Not only did I push Ryker away but I ruined Nicks chances. He sits there silent and takes a deep breath "why did you want to push Ryker away?" I can feel my heart constrict when he says his name. "Everyone leaves eventually" I shrug. "Dude" a pained look strikes across his face. "Not everyone" he places a hand on my shoulder and gives a small smile. "I know" I sigh. "I just..he reminds me so much of someone I knew." He looks at me confused. "When I was a kid. I had this best friend, Alex. We did everything together. We were just kids messing around ya know. One day we were teasing each other about not having our first kiss yet. We decided to just be each others first kiss. Less pressure that way you know. Right as we kissed, his dad walked in." I take a deep breath. Recalling the memory still pains me to this day. "I never saw him again after that. When I told my dad what happened. He stopped talking to me. It was like a switch flipped. I had never seen him so disappointed." Tears roll down my cheeks and I feel Nick wrap his arms around me. "I'm so sorry that happened to you." He hugs me tighter. We stay like that for a while. I let myself cry for what feels like forever. "What does that have to do with Ryker?" He hesitates breaking the silence. I sit up and I can't help the small smile that spreads across my lips. "When I'm around him." I pause still unsure what I feel. "I feel the same way I felt when I kissed Alex." I hesitate unsure of my words. "Did you like the kiss?" I look down embarrassed but nod my head. Nick chuckles a little bit. "Max, do you uh maybe have a crush on Ryker?" "No" I jump up immediately. "I'm straight." My heart races at the thought that I could actually like him. "I was straight once too." He stands up laughing. "Look I'm not gonna force this. Just think about it okay?" I nod my head unsure what to say. Nick nods his head in unison and turns to leave. "Hey, how did Ryker get into our dorm today?" He turns back around smirking. "Oh uh, he's been coming over at night to watch Tv. I didn't want to wake you up by him constantly knocking. So I gave him my spare key." My face turns a deep red. He says nothing, just chuckles to himself as he walks out the door. I have to make this right. I grab my gear and head back to the dorm just hoping he's still there. I don't know what I feel, but I know I don't want to loose him.
