30 Days with Genevieve

Chapter 3

Day 3:

I woke up and walked to the restroom. I took a look in the mirror and realized I was not the same Sean. My hazel eyes had bags under them, and my hair was a mess. My skin was extremely pale, more than usual. I was a mess.

"Twenty-seven days. Only twenty-seven days left, Sean. Are you going to make it?" I thought to myself. I tried to calm down, but my thoughts wouldn't leave me alone.

I took a quick bath and went downstairs. I walked to the kitchen and saw my mom. She was making breakfast.

"Good morning, mom," I said smiling.

"Good morning, honey. Do you want waffles?" she asked.

I shook my head. "No, thank you."

"Are you okay?" she asked. She was probably worried because of the fact that I did not want to eat. I always wanted to eat.

"Yes, I am just tired," I said. A weak smile formed on my face as I tried to convince my mom that I was perfectly fine.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I have a test today. I had to stay up all night studying," I said.

"Oh, Sean. You make me very proud," she said, kissing my forehead. I was going to miss her kisses so much...

"I love you, mom," I said. I wanted her to know that I loved her.

"I love you, too," she said smiling. That smile of hers was just so warm and so... perfect.

"I got to go, mom. Love you!" I exclaimed, rushing to the livingroom. I took my backpack and got out of my house.

I was now at Chemistry class with my new partner, Genevieve. She was very busy paying attention to the teacher. I was really bored, so I tried to have a conversation with her.

"So, um, thanks for accepting to go out with me," I whispered. She did not turn her head to see me, but I could see how she rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. It was just so that you could leave me alone," she said.

"You are not going to regret it. This will be the best date you'll ever have!" I exclaimed.

"I doubt it," she said simply.

"Are you trying to tell me that I don't know how to organize dates?" I asked, offended.

"Yes," she said.

"We'll see about that," I said with a cheeky smile on my face.

"Scofield, could you please be quiet? I'm trying to pay attention!"

"Why are you such a party pooper?"

"I am not!"

"Yes, you are!"

"I am not! I am just serious!"

"No, being serious is different. You are like the typical geek that has no social life!" I exclaimed. She turned to see me angrily.

"I do have social life!"

"Maybe, but that wouldn't change the fact that you don't know how to have fun."

"Listen to me Scofield, and listen to me carefully. I know how to have fun! The fact that I don't want to have fun with you does not mean I can't have fun, okay?"

"Why is it that you don't want to have fun with me?" I asked confused.

"Because I don't like boys. They are all liars. They just make you feel special and then betray you!" she said. I saw tears starting to form in her eyes, but she quickly wiped them out.
