30 Days with Genevieve
Chapter 24
Day 24:
/GENEVIEVE/
I woke up feeling extremely tired. I wasn't able to sleep throughout the night. Although I knew that I needed to have eight hours of sleep just like any other human being, my thoughts only allowed me to sleep for two or three hours, keeping me awake for as long as they could.
The previous night, I had promised Sean that I would talk to my dad, but I simply did not have the guts to do it. My dad was not precisely someone with whom you could talk openly. He was complicated, and he got angry very easily.
Perhaps Sean was right, and he had a decent explanation for his actions, but I highly doubted it. Choosing someone that you don't even know over someone who has been your partner for a while is not something that I would do. Why would my father do it?
I pushed all of my thoughts away and got up from my bed. It was very early, but that was great because it would help me to avoid talking to my father once more. You may think that's really rude, which is sort of true, but I did it because I believed my father and I had nothing to talk about.
I made my way to the kitchen and prepared myself a cup of coffee. Then, I started making myself breakfast. I decided to make pancakes, even if I didn't feel like eating anything. I was having one of those days in which you simply feel like nothing can make you feel well, or so I thought.
Abruptly, my phone buzzed, and I took a look at the screen, only to find out that Sean had sent me a text. I quickly grabbed my phone and unlocked the screen to read the message, and I couldn't help smiling while I did.
Good morning, beautiful. I hope you had sweet dreams- Sean.
I quickly typed a reply to his short, but truly sweet, message.
I did. Thank you, sweetie. -Genevieve.
It felt really strange to have a boyfriend, especially since I had promised myself over a billion times that I would not fall in love. As stupid as it sounds, that's what I used to promise myself every single time a guy talked to me. But Sean was totally different from them.
How can I describe the wonderful Sean Scofield? He was one of those players that make you hate them by just looking at them. The kind of boys who gloat about their rude ways to get women to sleep with them. But even if he used to hang out with them, he never seemed to be enjoying it completely. In fact, his heart never seemed to be in it.
The new Sean was another story. He was not afraid of being sweet and treat me with respect. He was charming, and totally sweet. His beautiful, hazel eyes gave him a totally innocent look, and while looking at them, you could lose control.
Sean sure knew how to make my heart beat faster, and how to make me feel butterflies in my belly. He was one of the few guys in the world who decided to change because of a girl, and he was incredibly brave. That's why I loved him.
"Genevieve? Are you there!?" My father's voice snapped me out of my thoughts, and I immediately noted how my pancakes burned on the stove.
"Um..." I turned off the stove and bit my bottom lip while cleaning the mess I had made. "Yeah, I'm here."
I heard footsteps coming from the hallway, and then my dad appeared in front of me with a wry smile on his face. "Hello," he said.
"Hey," I said as I threw away the remnants of the burned pancakes to the trash can.
He sniffed, then frowned. "What happened?"
"I spaced out," I explained, and couldn't help smiling as I thought about Sean.
