30 Days with Genevieve

Chapter 22

Day 22:

"You've no idea of how beautifully I slept," I told Peter once I woke up the next day.

He smiled. "I am glad everything if working for you," he said.

The fact that Genni and I were officially together now, made everything for me easier. I wouldn't have to ask for her permission to kiss her, or even overthink about it. I could just go ahead and kiss her at anytime, even if that would only last three days.

"I'm sorry, Sean," Peter said.

"What are you talking about?"

"I am sorry for the fact that you only have three days left. It is not fair, you know," he said.

"Don't worry," I told him with a smile on my face, "I understand how it works. We can't all live forever, and that's fine. I wish you could have lived longer, though. I deserved to die because of the way I was, but you... you deserved to live a long and happy life!"

"It's fine, Sean. Really. I accepted my death since the first week up there. Heaven changes you, you know," he said with a sad smile.

I couldn't understand how he could be so optimistic about it. He had a family that loved him, and a lot dreams. All of them went to the garbage as soon as his heart stopped beating. No matter how hard he fought  against his heart, it abruptly stopped.

"Well, I truly admire you. I don't know how long it's going to take me to accept my death," I said.

He gave me a gentle pat on the back and shrugged. "I guess we will find out this Sunday," he said.

"Oh, that's right," I said as soon as I remembered that I was going to die on Sunday.

"Anyway, what are you planning for today?" he asked, changing the topic.

"Well," I said with a wry smile on my face, "I was wondering if Genni would like to go to an amusement park with me."

"Are you kidding? Everybody loves those places!" he exclaimed.

"Yeah, but... how would that be for a first date? I mean, it's our first official date and... I have no idea of what to do," I said nervously.

"Just let yourself go. Don't overthink it, Sean. Take her to the fricking park! And take me with you, please! We need to go!" His eyes were shining like those of a kid who just received a candy.

"Okay," I finally said.

Peter's eyes lit up, and I took out my phone, ready to call Genevieve to ask her if she had plans for today, and hoping Julia could go with us as well.

Genni's beautiful smile appeared on her face as I told her I had a surprise for her. I didn't really tell her where we were going, because I thought that perhaps keeping it as a surprise would make it more magical and special.

She didn't refuse to go with me. In fact, as soon as I told her it was a surprise, her eyes lit up, and that amazing smile of hers kept plastered on her beautiful face until we reached the park. She kept her eyes closed during the time we were at the car, and she opened them until I told her that she could.

"We're here," was all I needed to say to have her open her eyes.

Once she saw where we were, the smile on her face grew even bigger. "Oh my goodness! Is this what I think it is?!" she exclaimed happily.
