30 Days with Genevieve
Chapter 7
Day 6:
I was at school, staring at Genevieve from the distance. She was crying, and all I could do was stare at her and feel bad for her. It was my fault. She was crying because of me, but I guess I was too stupid to realize the right thing to do was to go and hug her.
Why was she crying? Well, she was called a slut several times. The reason why I hate Mondays is because rumors are still fresh that day. People won't forget anything that happens during the weekend until Monday is over.
I heard how Heather told Genevieve that she was a slut, and that she was doing the wrong thing by sleeping with me. Of course, that was a huge lie. Genevieve would never sleep with me. I knew it. I stared at her brown eyes, that were now red because of the crying, and sighed.
It was because of me that everything happened. It was because of me that she was called a slut. What happened? Heather. That's what happened.
It all started when I entered the school and she walked to me and told me that she was dying to be with me. I told her I had lost the interest towards her, and she went nuts. She started yelling that Genevieve was sleeping with me, and that she was a slut. Genevieve told her she was not a slut, and Heather told her she was.
The worst part, is that the whole school agreed with Heather, and Genevieve was called a slut by several students. She started crying, and I was just too coward to do anything about it.
I ran a hand through my hand and sighed once more. Then, I slowly walked to where Genevieve was standing and gave her a hug. For a second, I did not think of the possibility of getting punched by her, and all that mattered was that she was in my arms. She did let go of the hug. She just kept crying.
"It hurts, you know? It hurts to be called names in front of the whole school," she said.
"I know it hurts," I said. "But there is nothing I can do about it."
"Of course there is," she said while letting go of the embrace. "Tell them I haven't slept with you."
"They won't believe me," I reminded her.
"You could at least try," she said in almost a whisper. Her tears would not stop falling, and her lips were trembling. I wiped out her tears with my hand, and then I caressed her cheek softly.
"I will try," I said. Then, I walked to where Heather was. She was in front of her locker, applying herself some lip gloss. Once she saw me standing in front of her, she just smiled.
"Did you finally realize that I am way better than that geek?" she asked.
I shook my head. "Of course I did not, because you are not. Genevieve is not a geek, she is a great person, and she isn't a slut. You are a slut."
"What did you just say?" she asked with her eyes wide open.
"What you heard. You are the slut here," I stated.
"I am not a slut," she said while getting closer to me. "I just want you to be with me. Is there anything wrong with that?"
"Yes, there is. I do not want to be with you, Heather. How many times do I have to say it?"
"You have to say it until..." she started. Then, she moved closer to me and gave me a swift kiss on the lips. "Until you sound convinced," she finished.
I shook my head. "I am totally convinced that I do not like you. Why do you keep insisting?"
"Because I know you like me, and I will not stop until you admit it," she said.
