I had awoken to the sounds of sirens. I was laying in the back of the Jeep when everything came back to me. Shooting up from my position, I wipe the tears from my eyes as I find Argent talking to Scott.

I try not to listen as my heart clenches in pain at the feeling of losing yet another friend. I don't bother to wipe the tears, letting a soundless sob escape my throat as I clutched at my chest.

I laid back down, curling in on myself as I fought hard to block the pain.

I could've saved her.

I was right beside her.

It was my fault she was dead.

It was my fault.

I ended up falling asleep again and awoke in my own bed. Rolling over, I begrudgingly head downstairs find my brother at the table , waiting for me.

I speed over, wrapping my arms around my twin for come comfort. We still needed to defeat the nogitsune but Scott came first. He always did to me.

After about twenty minutes, mom lets us know we need to head into the station and explain our sides of the story. Parrish was thankfully the one to interrogate me so I could pass with my shit lies.

"Do you remember what happened?" He held a pen and notepad in his hands while I sat on the couch with irritated eyes. I'm sure they were red as I'd cried my heart out on that battlefield.

"Barely. I just remember getting out of the car and then darkness. I, uh, woke up to Scott shaking me. Then there was pain in the back of my head. I think they surprised me from behind." It was a lame cover up but Parrish didn't push much about it.

"Did you see anyone?"

"Only one person, but I'm not sure. It all happened so fast." I kept my eyes trained on my lap as I tried to keep my emotions in instead of letting them consume me.

"Are you sure?"

I nodded before looking up at him with a trembling chin. I bit my tongue.

"Okay."

Scott, Lydia and I left to talk to Deaton after being informed that it was the nemeton that was able to keep the nogitsune locked in that jar. We were planning to kill him and trap it back where it belonged. But we needed his expertise.

"Stiles and Kira said it was the nemeton that kept it trapped." I spoke as we moved deeper in the clinic.

"The is this isn't even a person you're fighting. It just looks like one," he reminded us. "It's a spirit that's taken the shape of a human."

"The shape of my best friend." Scott pushed.

"Someone caught it once, some could do it again, right?" Lydia questioned.

"I don't know," he said with honesty and my heart dropped a bit. " This thing was trapped a long time ago, before the nemeton was cut down. It doesn't have the same power anymore."

"Is there anything that does?" I sighed out, tired of our plans always failing. The last plan we had, had gotten one of our friends murdered.

"Possibly. When the tree was whole, its wood was sometimes used to contain powerful objects. But those objects are very rare." He shook his head in thought.

"Wait a second." Lydia interrupted his train of thought. "Powerful objects? Like an alpha's claws?"

"Which alpha?"

"Talia Hale. Peter had them in this box with the triskele carved on the lid. What if it was made from the nemeton."

"It was." There was finality in his words and it made me wonder if he knew where the box came from.
