Five

The next two nights I had spent hanging out with Derek as much as I could, trying to figure out who this alpha was and get some leads. Tonight was a normal night, I was wanting to have a movie night all to myself so I thought about heading to the movie rental store to buy a couple of movies.

I walked inside and waved to the manager who was working on the flickering light. I walked past him and to the back where I started scanning the shelves for The Fast and The Furious movies, they recently came out with Fast Five and I was glad they already had it on DVD as I was looking forward to watch it.

As I snatched it up, I heard the bell ring on the door, signaling someone had come in. I internally groaned as I instantly knew who it was when they started shouting.

"Can somebody help me find The Notebook?" I snorted as I raised up off the ground from my kneeling position. I guess Lydia always gets her ways. "Hello? Is anybody working here? You gotta be kidding me." He said, looking around the now empty place.

"Jackson," I called out, but he froze in his spot, his jaw dropping as he stared at the ground. "What's wrong?" I asked, walking towards him. He quickly spun around, finally hearing me talking towards him.

"Don't come over here." He pleaded, I only gave him a confused look until a familiar smell hit my nose. A metallic smell that I came to know as blood. I walked faster and almost fell back in shock as I saw the manager dead on the ground, claw marks covering his body.

I looked up at Jackson as I covered my mouth with my hand, un-shed tears in my eyes. We spun around quickly when we heard commotion at the front of the store, near the front door. Jackson stumbled into the ladder, causing the ladder to fall and hit the hanging light. The lights flickered on and off as ducked behind a shelf full of movies.

Jackson looked over his shoulder at the front before pulling back and taking a deep breath. I gripped his hand in slight fear as I couldn't keep my heartbeat calm. The Alpha surely knew where we were and would surely come for us. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to anyone yet, so I kept hold of Jackson's hand to make sure I wouldn't freak out anymore than I should.

He glanced at me before we heard movement again, I glanced around the shelves and saw them falling down like domino's. "Jackson, go." I said, pushing him out of the way, but I was too slow as I had gotten stuck under the shelf along with his legs.

I yelped in pain as I felt the bookshelf crushing me from the impact. I froze along with Jackson as the Alpha stood over us, he examined Jackson's neck where claw wounds were visible before he came over to me. His claws digging into my arm and making me grit my teeth in pain, he scratched my cheek before finally fleeing from the scene.

I heard a scream and instantly recognized it as Lydia's. I tried moving but to no avail I got no where. "Jackson, can you move?" I asked, glancing up at him.

"Yeah, I uh, I'll get us out and call the police. Okay?" He said, pulling his legs out from under the shelf. He stood up and bent down to pick the shelf up but couldn't even budge it, "I can't, I can't move it." He said, running his hands over his face.

"Hey, it's okay. Just call the police, they can get it off of me." I suggested, he nodded before grabbing his phone. After hanging up he sat beside me and rested his hand on top of mine and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

"Who knew, Jackson could be so sweet." I joked, making him give a slight smile before glaring at me. "Thanks." I said, hearing the faint sound of sirens from the distance.

"If it wasn't for you, we'd both be stuck. So thank you for pushing me." He said, "Now, don't tell anyone I'm being nice. It won't look good on me." He said, giving me a stern look.
