"Scott, did you seriously forget where we parked the car?" I asked. I was tired of carrying these stupid groceries, my hand was straining at this point.

"Maybe, maybe it's above us." He said, walking up the stairs, I reluctantly followed and we went to the next floor and looked around.

"Push the button to lock the car." I suggested, he glanced at me before doing it. We heard the beep and I sighed in pleasure as we were only one floor away from it. As Scott went to pick the bags up, the milk bottle rolled out and went under a car.

"Damn it." He cursed, he went to grab it but it started to roll back towards us. "Run," He whispered, I dropped my bags and ran for it, going up and running through the car, dodging any possible place I could be seen out in the open. When I landed behind a car, I felt my phone start vibrating so I started running again as I tried to turn it off.

I heard car alarms go off above me and knew it was Scott, so I ran up there and followed his scent. I didn't need to smell the air anymore as his phone started going off.

"You're dead." I heard Derek's voice and sighed in relief when I realized this was just Scott's practice.

"What, what the hell was that?" Scott whined.

"Said I was gonna teach you. I didn't say when." He vaguely put it.

"You scared the crap out of me." Scott argued more.

"Not yet."

"Okay, but I was fast, right?" Scott hoped.

"Not fast enough." Derek replied, walking towards me with Scott following.

"But, but the car alarm thing, that was smart, right?"

"Till your phone rang." He brought up.

"My phone vibrated and you didn't do anything." I smirked, looking at the two boys who were arguing in front of me.

"Yeah, but it wasn't as loud as him talking and running, plus you hid where I couldn't see you." Derek implied.

"Oh, well, I'll take that." I said, shutting up.

"Yeah, but that was, I mean," Scott stuttered, watching as Derek started to walk away. "Would you just stop? Please? What happened the other night, Stiles' dad getting hurt, that was my fault. I should have been there to do something. I need you to teach me how to control this." he said, blaming himself for what happened to Stiles' dad.

"Scott it wasn't your fault that he got hurt. I was right beside him, I should've jumped in and got him out of the way. But I was too busy looking around and keeping myself safe." I said, biting my bottom lip as I felt guilty about what had happened. Derek's arm swiftly laid on my shoulders as his hand rubbed my arm.

"Look, I am what I am because of birth. You were bitten. Teaching someone who was bitten take time. I don't even know if I can teach you guys." He said, no hope in his voice.

"What do I have to do?" Scott pleaded.

"You have to get rid of distractions. You see this?" Derek said, snatching and holding up Scott's phone, "This is why I caught you. You want me to teach you? Get rid of her."

"What, just because of her family?" Scott asked. Derek reacted by throwing Scott's phone against a wall and smashing it to pieces. "Wait, wait, whoa, whoa!" Scott said, getting mad.

"You getting angry?" Scott nodded, "That's your first lesson. You want to learn how to control this, hot to shift, you do it through anger, by tapping into the primal rage, and you can't do that with her around." Derek said.
