𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐈𝐒 an interesting time of every year, and that is because the self proclaimed holiday brings on a lot of events. There are the famous New Years Resolutions. Which is a promise that one makes to themselves to stop bad habits and begin good ones on the first day of the year. But those promises never last more than a month, maybe even two or perhaps less. But people make them anyway just to feel good about themselves.
Some people use New Years to finally spill secrets in the midst of overwhelming emotion. Secrets that should have been kept to themselves because it was not their place to tell. Secrets that wreak havoc amongst their peers and make them regret ever uttering a word out of pure emotion and not logic without realizing how it would affect others.
Or, of course, there are the people who use New Years Ever to party. But amongst this party, drama will always appear because what are we as humans if not scandalous and overbearing. The saying 'don't kiss and tell' should be reversed. Apparently, all people do is kiss and tell. It is a New Years party, after all.
And that is when the last iconic part of New Years makes its acquaintance. New years kiss.
Everyone, or at least most anyway, knows of a New Years kiss. The symbolization is believed be that if a person kisses their lover or desired lover as the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Day, those sentiments will continue for the next 12 months. Basically stating, if you kiss someone on New Years, it means you want to be with them in the long run.
With this tradition in mind, of course that meant you and Izuku had joined. Not out of doubt or validation, but because you wanted to participate in fun traditions. A good omen is a good omen, and no one wants bad luck.
Since your parents were still on honeymoon, you all decided to get together at home and celebrate the holiday. And since you usually celebrate holidays with the Midoriyas, something Shinso and Eri learned, you invited them over as well. And this year Nakanti, Mizo and Ronin decided to join, too.
Once the sun had set, the party began. It was a casino themed party and everyone dressed accordingly. It was very innocent and fun, for the sake of the younger ones. There was music playing, snacks, drinks and actual food you took the time to make with Dezirée, Shinso, Amara and Rufaro. There was no alcohol, for obvious reasons, but there was apple cider, the beverage. And most importantly, there were games.
All kinds, one side game that was being played the whole night was 'Collect the Kisses.' Once everyone was there, they were told they had until Midnight to collect as many Hershey kisses as possible. One of the games being played now, was 'Blind Karoke,' which was absolutely hilarious.
