𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐎𝐋' 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐌𝐀𝐒. An interesting time of the year for everyone. Not necessarily wonderful for all, or even terrible for all. It was a holiday everyone may not look forward to, but expect something emotional towards it, or nothing at all. Christmas is simply interesting for everyone, whether it be for a joyous reason or a deceiving one. And there are multiple reasons why one could truly be on either side of the line for this particular holiday.
The holiday is played out to be one of love and happiness for all. Mostly because of the childhood story well know amongst most kids, good ol' Santa Claus (or Saint Nick) and his presents. This brings people happiness, wanting to be on the nice list to get all the joys in the world. Love, presents, and lots of warmth with a bonus of happy smiles.
Then you have the realist. The realization that Santa was an old white man who forced tiny elves to do his bidding of work for 364 days of a year— every year, only having one day off and that day was when he went out and took credit for their work. He was a stalker who watched children and sometimes adults, being overly judgy by deciding who he seemed 'nice' enough to get a present or coal. He broke and entered homes, liking those even more if you left him deserts but hating you if you're awake and tried to catch him in the devious act.
Realist. They understand that life isn't all as happy as you first think when you hear that very creepy story as a small and naïve child. They understand that logically, if you heard that story with a different name, you would feel a different emotion than joy. They understand how the story conditioned young children to believe anything they're told, even if it's logically sinster or plain impossible and weird.
Life can hit you hard, like waking up to a divorce instead of a proposal. Or walking down the street alone in the cold while watching couples hold hands for warmth with smiles and laughs while you scowled and sighed. Or sitting at home eating ice scream and drinking hot chocolate as you watched reruns of movies and shows alone, while others cuddled and laid in each other's shared body heat.
As previously stated, Christmas was interesting whether you actually enjoyed the holiday or not. It was something for everyone, whether good or bad. It was something you grew with, soemthing you're familiar with, like a distant relative you only see at family reunions.
But for Izuku Midoriya, Christmas was always a little on both sides for him. He enjoyed the holidays, his favorite drink being hot chocolate with three spoons of sugar and lots of melted marshmallows. He loved the decorations, the cookies, the movies, he genuinely loved spending the holidays with his mother.
