Lies.

"I love you..." You whispered and leaned close, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. It caught him by surprise, but he quickly kissed back. It was supposed to be a sweet...
𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 moment when something unexpected happens and the breath becomes fleeting. A moment where the world we live in seems to have been operating at an unfamiliar frequency. A moment where all beliefs are questioned and the logical process is abandoned for the conflicted masses of the heart. That moment becomes everything because before, it meant nothing. Nothing as important as it is now. Gaining knowledge that change the perception of every single aspect of life, of every interaction and every word spoken.
Truth is, you never really know someone for certain. No matter how much you think you know a person, you will never truly understand them unless you are them. You will never truly know what they are thinking. Never truly know what they are feeling. Never truly know their story, what they have been through, what they are going through. Even if they say it, you never truly know if it is the truth, because you never truly know how they lie. And if you do, it won't matter anyways because you never truly know what part is the lie. The only person you could ever truly know is yourself, and even parts of you are a mystery.
Nakanti was always a woman you never truly understood, and you were aware of that, but you knew she was always there. She was a wise woman who kept to herself, you never knew much but you knew enough to trust her. She was a story you thought you knew, a hero who rose in a society that wasn't made for her and managed to preserve, raising your grandmother in the process. But after reading those books, Nakanti was so much more than that.
"Nakanti's..."
The words couldn't be spoken further, they died in your throat. You stared down at the books spread out on the table. You were breathless, it was almost a struggle to catch your breath, it was as if the disbelief you felt made the oxygen no longer want you.
"This is..." Rufaro breathed, his eyes widening briefly as he leaned back against his chair. "...not what I was expecting to learn. Your adoptive great grandmother is actually your great, greataunt."
"Ouma was All Might's mentor? Our grandmother fought All For One?" Omari stared at the books with shared disbelief. "What?" Everything he just learned was far too much to process. This was his family? Could he even call it that now? This was more than family, it was deeper. Could he call himself a Patterson? It no longer felt right.
"Omari... Rue..." You slowly caught your breath. Everything was starting to come together, the picture was being painted for you. All the hints, all the information, the words said and all the actions made. It was all starting to click. Everything was clear. "I know what to do."
