Song: Brother- Kodaline
Maybe I can't stop the downpour, but I will always join you for a walk in the rain.
——————-Miles's POV:
It had been two days since Kenzie told us Kinsler had a seizure, and we have had yet to go up there.
I know we suck as friends, but we're all kinda mad at her for leaving so fast and not telling us what was going on. I also know it's not our place to metal in like we want to.
"Okay, enough of playing the cold shoulder game. I'm going to the hospital with or without you two." Eli tells us, and Dravon shrugs.
"Fine. I'll go too. She doesn't deserve the cold shoulder because she didn't do anything wrong." I agree with Eli, and Dravon shrugs again. "Dude, what is your damn problem?" I ask him, and he looks at me.
"What's my damn problem? We have dropped everything to make sure Kenzie and her brother are fine. We put our life on hold for her, and for what? She doesn't want our help with anything, and she sure as hell doesn't deserve it. That's my problem. We could be going to parties like everyone else, but no. We sit with a broken girl and her little brother." He snaps.
"And don't even get me started on how ungrateful she is. Yeah she's been through shit her whole life, but instead of her drowning in it, she needs to wake up, be an adult, and make life the best she can." He says, and I look at him waiting for him to continue.
When he doesn't, I take that as my cue to talk. "She doesn't want help because she thinks everyone will use it against her. She's been through more shit than any of us have. Before either of you say she and I went through the same thing, we didn't. Hers has always been way worse." I snap at them, and pause for a moment.
"I get it's not easy trying to help someone who doesn't want help, but later on she'll be grateful. Hell she is grateful now, but she is afraid that we will eventually hurt her. So no she isn't ungrateful, and no she doesn't need to wake up right now. She is grieving the loss of her mother, and trying to figure out how to care for her brother." I defend her. Eli nods, and Dravon looks at the wall clenching his jaw.
"Go or don't go. I don't give a flying fuck, but when she's back you better have shit figured out. Better yet, you have two options. One, you can either grow up and help her like she needs. Or two, go ahead and hurt her, tell her how you see her." I tell him, and he doesn't take his eyes off the wall.
"Come on Eli, she probably needs food or clothes or something." I tell Eli, and he nods.
"I'll text her outside of the group chat, and see if she needs anything." He tells me, and I nod.
"She said she doesn't need anything other than someone to sit with Kinsler until she gets off." He tells me, and I nod.
"Tell her you and I will be there in a few." I tell him, and he goes back to typing on his phone.
"She said okay." He tells me, and I nod.
"Let's go then, we'll pick up some coffee and something for her to eat before she goes to work." I tell him, and he nods.
"We'll be at the hospital Dravon. Remember what I said, and make your choice wisely." I tell him sternly, and he gives me a small nod. "Ready Eli?" I ask him, and he nods.
