Will You Send Me An Angel

The wise man said just walk this wayTo the dawn of the light
The wind will blow into your face
As the years pass you by
What Neal felt could be described as only agony and suffering. The level of pain that surged through his skull and trickled down his spine was least to be described as just trickle. And all his eyes could weakly sense was mostly darkness. What he couldn't really decipher was why his left foot felt almost as a chewing gum and same side wrist wanted to punch him in his face
It was all a deep mystery and unnerving one at that. The last memory he had was of hiding his emotions behind a glass of juice and looking back at the agent-turned-friend-to-family and for a second just thought how far they've come in the past year-or-whatever time since coming on the planet and loosing the planet he'd called home for couple decades or so.
And then it all disappeared into huge black cloud of pain.
Now he could only feel tremendous amounts of pain and numbness he could no longer explain. His head was swimming and pulsing along each of his breaths and beat of his heart. It was something he guessed wasn't related to the juice he drank nor the sudden onset of hysteria.
It was something else and the ex-con was going to find out what the heck.... And with that the man turned his piercing blue eyes to the main source of all weird feelings and nearly let go of whatever small amount of food he'd gotten down while ago.....
His left foot was encased in a moderately large block of cement from the hole that was in the wall and just a mere two feet lower his wrist appeared to be sticking out of the slab of wall that was partially crumpled on the floor, quite possibly during his ungraceful downfall.
The sight alone made the skin crawl and hair stand and whatever his stomach still held wanted to get out.
Neal was truly and deeply stuck and as the image finally connected in his head the pain whited out all his senses and his soul crunching scream filled the darkness of the basement hallways almost across all the base of the building while his body weakly succumbed to the failed effects of molecular transportation.

The passage out of the dark
Noel was slowly making his way towards the lower levels of the building as a strange sound begun to reach his ears, someone was seemingly screaming as if in great deal of pain, and by the voice he truly didn't want to think of either Nate or this Neal guy.
There was only one way to see what the hell was going on- he had to go down and investigate by himself. He knew something was definitely up and brewing for a while, that was what he deduced since he noticed some extra low key activity on lower supplies deck and some quiet hushed wisps of strange vibes he couldn't pinpoint exactly.
But all that was just the one thing. He was absolutely aware of being sought out by the Fleet and most likely the whole Admiralty from the Federation. But the dark design and all the mysterious air about the place created enough places he could easily slip into and use the only power he had left with and hide.
The weird screaming suddenly disappeared and it took a moment for his busy mind to catch up on the fact it was now quiet again. Surely there was a constant murmur and buzz coming from the different directions and by the doorways and whatever was there. It was like a hive just a bit less busy for the moment.
Absentmindedly he thought about the other guy, the twin-lookalike of Nate. He couldn't explain the vibe he had about him but it was something that kept quietly buzzing at the back of his mind for the time being.
The shadows were pulling him stronger now and he knew once he gets back to that groove there's no turning back.
Being a "shadow man" wasn't something he knew exactly how to control beyond what he learned on the way. His most notable ability was the mechanics and engines and computers. Digital world was the thing he was taught and had practice. The escape happened before they could pursue other things that were implanted in them before their cells got chance to form properly. The rest was just an added bonus as most of the time Noel could thank the physical training for the ability to walk ages later. The broken back will never be easy but the muscled body and strength he'd gotten before that made it easier to manage now. And damn how much one needs a core strength even for simplest of movements.
"Shadow slide" made it easier since it's was pretty intricate molecular transportation capability within biological range and therefore made it a mutation he was born with. It was also muted with his DNA before it even was complete DNA. So that meant being a shadow was in his blood and there was no way to turn off the ability he didn't ask for, just maintain and control at best possible.
It's been gone for years now. Many years throughout his rehab and some years after he got his chair and a bunk on a ship. But it came back slowly over the years on a ship and off it. And now it was back with the the other one in tandem, constantly scanning the building and people.
It might be a bit annoying but less of an obstacle than his chair. He let that one slide. There was one absolutely perfect waiting in his secret craft. And another one in the works ages before his plan to skip the party was done. Tonight he'd decided was the night and so here went nothing to the host.
Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
Here I am
In the land of the morning star
It took some more moments for Nate to think of the Borg Cube as a possible similarity between the two things. However this one still held quite some ethereal sensations.
It actually didn't help at all, Nate still struggled with the quiz that the weird thing was.
But the thing had a specific calling that was strongly pulling the man towards the strange force. And it he partly just wanted to let go of that. It wouldn't do good for his general plan not Noel and whoever else he was supposed to save today.
So he pulled himself back from the dark object, it's pulsating energy was trying to sneak its strands into his mind and manipulate his free will.
It maybe took a long time for his always attentive mind to pick up what some inkling was trying to say and he just let his body slide through the floor, down to another empty room. Nate needed to think.
His brain was buzzing.
And then it just hit him. It was the Dark Serpent Energy. He'd read about those things and also suddenly realized why it was there. The energy attracted all biological sub-entities that usually meant things like that tree and other ancient entities that were both biological and something else. The duality of their vitality and sheer source of ancient magic gave the serpent's dark mater to feed on the source and grow.
What exactly it could do was yet to be seen from scientific point of view but one thing was clear- it was all dangerous.
It took few more moments for Nate to realize his own unique ability was probably reason for the dark matter to pull him away- he was one of the duality in his own magical right, therefore good feed for anything dark and powerful.
And something told him that this thing could basically wipe a whole planet off existence if it's not controlled.
Of which he sincerely doubted Roland had any idea aside the probable side effect of more black money than anyone would need.
So that meant they're all screwed.
