It's Easy, Don't Let It Go

**************************************

The evening it chokes the candle it burns

This disguise covers bitter lies

Repeating the joke the meaning it dies

His skin felt like burning right off his bones the more time he spent just sitting around on the damn cold floor. But it wasn't like anything he'd ever felt before.

He had no idea what the hell was going on but damn sure he'll not let it hinder his agenda.

But what agenda he could have when his whole body alternated between one thing and another?

Neal took a very deep breath and forced himself calm down. It wasn't easy but it was doable, with some time and patience. He was trained for that, right?

Unlike his fiery travel from the island but now seemingly close enough. At least this time he wasn't shot... yet...

After a moment his skin became less near combustion and the nerve ending slowly faltered back to previous state. He had no idea what that was but the intensity alone had left him with tear streaks all over his face and vague ringing in his ears. Almost like after the one time he tried to hide in the most tiniest spot that was the absolute only spot behind a curve in the wall that had cover of darkness.. He now started to recall it came to be his so far the most intense heist ever. Well, at least the one he managed the impossible and to this day his memory covered it rather vaguely to which Mozzie had called just plain luck and his own self-confidence boost if anything.

Caffrey wasn't that quick to jump to conclusions however it seemed okay with his partner in crime so it must be it. Right?

The more his mind went back into past some things he never had in his recollection was becoming clearer but other faded even more than up to this point. And thought alone was scary enough.

He wasn't sure why his brain suddenly started to struggle more than before or what happened to him mentally after all of the sudden planet change and why anything even happened the way it did but one thing he was sure about was that Peter was the one with most answers...

Then why did it feel like he absolutely shouldn't talk to the man?

Why did it feel like some kind of premonition?

Not one for inklings like that Neal tried to get up. It came with more soreness and aches than was normal and he had to suppress the mere thought of getting old as a normal person. Nah, not his time yet, he decided and kept to that thought.

Neal Caffrey didn't age and wasn't one to call sick. That was maybe Peter more than him, if El had any say in it.

Of course, Peter didn't need to know and that never was a thing to brag about but Neal had a rather unhealthy habit of hiding everything not so right about his health that only one time of serious injury only led the agent of much grimmer discovery. And Neal had tried so damn hard to manage to hide it...

And that was when the last of cracks became more than the ex-con could deal with. The leg injury being just a tiny bit of the top of the iceberg that Neal had been hiding all those years throughout their cat-and-mouse game. And even before. Mozzie was even more shocked.

Which lead to even more weird thinking and reminiscing. Unlike Neal, like for real unlike. He wasn't one to contemplate his own mishaps so what had changed now?
