I'm Not Bulletproof

************************************

Just a simple touch

Just a little glance

Makes me feel like flyin'

But where are you tonight

Something isn't right

Can you please stop hiding

The fear Neal felt kept the iron grip on him way too strong for the man to understand what was going on. He was suddenly assaulted by unexplained flashes of memories he never had before and for some reason there was something dark and fuzzy at the edges of his consciousness calling and pulling to him like the desperation he kept feeling stuck in his small living quarters. The sole thought of being so alone and unwanted had been eating at him with the same ferocity of the wave of the dark power that was pulling him now and he couldn't comprehend what that even meant. It was something new and blossoming in his chest like a huge flower taking up all the space left and squeezing the air out of his lungs. He felt his heart slowing and breath catching in his throat.

He was loosing it and he knew that but he was unable to do anything about it as the strange darkness kept pulling his mind under its veil, transforming his body into something new..

He couldn't move nor keep it away, it kept pushing itself on him, but he was too weak to fight. Weird moments from other lifetimes he never lived kept flashing before his eyes and no matter how hard he tried to squeeze his eyes shut they never gave up their invasion. He couldn't breathe and for a while it reminded him the times he'd almost drowned. Times he'd allowed his body to give up a little just to be too scared to die.

He was still to scared to die but he couldn't help it now, the dark power was seeping into every seam of his fractured mind and failing body. Like a smoke that slowly crawled up the wall to find the cracks in the ceiling and slip through slivers of lost hopes and fear.

He was shaking terribly but he couldn't feel. The pain from before was still there but now more as a silent scream into abyss and covered by the veil of that darkness that was now squeezing his lungs and heart like he was some kind of squishie.

-What the hell is this?- His mind screamed back in echoing squeals that reverberated around the blackness.

-Don't fight it, let it take you!- A voice like his suddenly called out from somewhere and suddenly he felt a presence of something, someone, close but afar. The other voice brought a colorful streak of light that cut through the black veil and the pain lessened, and fear was slipping sideways, almost as if to avoid the new energy.

-Who are you?- he asked and while his mouth didn't move the sound of his own startled, shaky voice echoed in this weird place.

-I'm part of you, just like you are part of me. We are alike but we're not the same.- The voice that sounded so much like his old self, before he was arrested, before he met Kate and before he became one of the best in the oldest of games.

-But how is that possible?- he asked and watched the light becoming more clear and while still just like northern lights but even more beautiful. Who was this calming presence?

-Don't worry brother, I got you.- the voice was suddenly not just a voice. It was now a shape of a man. And warm touch on his shoulder.
