Maya felt furious but also extremely worried as she tried to call her daughter, "She's not answering her phone. We gotta find her."
No one's POV
Carina and Maya were pacing around the living room.
"Has someone been able to reach her?", Andy asked.
"No, she isn't replying to messages or calls", Vic replied, while trying to reach the teen again.
"Did Olivia mention where she would have gone with Micah? Did she specify where?, Jo asked.
"No, she just said out", Maya answered, feeling defeated. "What does out even mean??"
"What if something has happened to her", Carina started spiralling.
"Why couldn't she listen to us, why", Maya said with a wave of anger in her tone.
Andy tried to calm down the parent, who was pacing back and forth in the house, "Maya, she's a teenager, teens break rules"
"Not Olivia, she never does stuff like this", Maya replied. "Olivia asks things like can she take a yoghurt out of the fridge, or can she go hang out with her friends at the library, she's not a rule breaker, the exact opposite."
"Let's just take a breather. She'll most likely come home soon now that the fireworks and everything have quieted down. While the rest of us go home we can try to look around a bit. I'm certain she's fine, most likely lost track of time", Travis reassured.
Meanwhile, the two teens in the park had totally lost track of time. They were in their own bubble, looking at fireworks and occasionally hugging each other and maybe sharing a couple of light or more passionate kisses. Even though it was December, it wasn't cold, and the park they were at was surprisingly empty.
When the fireworks started to quiet down slightly, Olivia finally figured to look at the clock. When Olivia finally glanced at her phone, her eyes grew wide when she realized it was after one in the morning. She knew her moms were most likely worried sick and were probably going to commit murder, since the girl had disobeyed them.
"Oh shit, it's almost 2 am, my moms are gonna kill me. Jesus, everyone has tried to call and text me, moms, my aunts and uncles", Olivia panicked.
"Did your moms set you a curfew or something?", Micah asked confused.
"Umm... I kinda didn't tell you that moms didn't want me to go out tonight. I left without them knowing", the girl awkwardly explained.
"Olivia no", Micah said whining.
"Look, I'm sorry I just wanted to meet you tonight, you can't be mad at that", she pouted, looking rather cute.
"I'm not mad Olivia, we just need to get you home now. Moreover, your moms must hate me now and probably won't ever let you see me again", he replied half joking as the teens got up from their blanket.
"Yeah, I gotta go, fast"
The girl was about to start running but quickly turned around and leaned into Micah's lips for the last time.
"Thanks for tonight, I had a good time", Olivia spoke, before starting to jog back to her house, leaving the teen boy to the silence of the empty park.
When Olivia finally approached her house, she saw the lights were still on, but no cars were there, so all the guests had left. Olivia knew that her moms must be furious. For a moment she thought that maybe she would just go to Andy's or Vic's house and just never go home. Or at least wait til the morning to be lectured. Or maybe her parents were already asleep but forgot the lights on, or that's what the girl tried to assure herself.
When she opened the door, she saw her moms on the couch, looking rather distressed and worried. When they heard the front door open, they both jumped up, relieved to see Olivia walk in. Olivia's heart sank as she realized she was in deep trouble.
"Olivia! Thank god you're okay!", Carina exclaimed, pulling her daughter into a tight hug.
"Where have you been? We've been worried sick!", Maya said, her voice shaking with anger.
"We were so worried, bambina. Why didn't you answer your phone? We tried calling and texting you so many times. Everyone tried to call you! Tesoro, I can't believe you did this"
Olivia's eyes darted down to the ground. "I'm sorry, I just lost track of time. I didn't realize how late it was."
"You shouldn't have been out in the first place Olivia", Maya replied sternly, crossing her arms.
Olivia's mind went blank as she tried to come up with an excuse. But she knew that there was no way she could explain away her disobedience. She had broken the trust that her moms had placed in her, and she knew that there would be consequences.
"Do you know how dangerous it is to be out so late on New Year's Eve? Anything could have happened to you", Maya continued.
"I'm sorry, mom", Olivia repeated, feeling guilty and ashamed, tears welling up in her eyes. "I just wanted to see Micah."
Her moms didn't say anything for a few moments, their expressions softening slightly. Carina stepped forward and placed a hand on Olivia's shoulder. "We're just worried about you. We need to know that you're safe. You can't do something like this"
"We understand that you like Micah. We love you and we trust you. But sneaking out in the middle of the night is not acceptable. We were worried sick and couldn't sleep until we knew you were safe. You broke our trust, and that's not okay", Maya said sternly.
Carina added, "We need you to understand that there are rules in this house for a reason. We want to keep you safe, and we need to know where you are at all times, si?"
Olivia knew they were right, but she couldn't help feeling frustrated. She had never been in trouble before and didn't like the feeling of disappointing her moms. Olivia hung her head, feeling ashamed and guilty. She knew that she had messed up and that she would have to work hard to regain her moms' trust. It was a hard lesson to learn, but Olivia knew that it was an important one.
"I know", Olivia said softly. "I'm sorry".
Maya and Carina both sighed with relief, glad that Olivia was home and safe. "We love you, Olivia", Maya said, hugging her daughter once more.
"We just want you to be safe", Carina added, kissing Olivia on the forehead. "Promise us you'll never do something like this again."
