"i think you should release a christmas album," i tell olivia, putting a bauble on the tree. "maybe one day," olivia says. "and then you can be in a santa suit for your album cover for it!" i pick up another bauble. "no, you can be santa. and i can be myself, sitting on your lap," olivia says, laughing at her idea. "then i'm gonna be the sexiest santa out there," i laugh, putting the bauble on. i pick another one up, seeing a small picture of olivia and i on it. i smile, looking up at liv, "remember this? it was our first christmas we spent as a couple." "i remember," olivia smiles with a soft blush on her cheeks, looking at it.

as we hung up the different colored ornaments and strung up the lights, the room took on a warm, festive glow.

i hold the star, giving it to olivia. "you put it on," she says, pushing it towards me. "i think you should," i say, pushing it back to her. "how 'bout we both?" olivia settles, smiling.

liv holds the star, jumping onto me. i hold her up, looking at the roof. i jump up, sticking my hands on the roof. "okay, you gotta hold it too," olivia says, placing her free hand on my shoulder, legs wrapped around my waist. "then i'm gonna have to let go of my hand on your back," i tell her. she moves her hand from my shoulder to around the back of my neck. "it's okay, i got it. now come on," olivia says. i let go of olivia's back, holding onto the star too.

we place the star on top of the tree, and olivia presses it down so it stays. "there we go," she whispers. i smile, placing my hand back on her back and dropping down.

i place olivia on the floor, and we both move back and look at the tree. "looks amazing," olivia says in awe, admiring our work. "it really does," i agree, holding olivia's hand. olivia looks at me, standing in front of me. "i'm grateful we get to do this every year together," olivia says, "it's one of my favorite things. i couldn't imagine doing this with anyone else." "me too," i say, "i'd be putting this up by myself." olivia laughs, "lucky you have me." "very," i smile, putting olivia closer for our lips to connect.

we pull away, olivia breathing heavily. "christmas came early for me," olivia jokes. "just you wait," i smile.

christmas day , 9:12pm
"did you want some hot chocolate? i forgot to ask before," i tell olivia. "yeah, that'd be nice," olivia smiles, "i'll turn on the fireplace." "okay, be careful," i say, walking to the kitchen.

i look up from the two hot chocolate cups at olivia, who just lit the fireplace. she closes the screen, looking at it with a smile. "hey, pretty?" i say. olivia looks at me, her smile brightening, "hey." i match her smile as she responded to 'pretty', "did you want marshmallows in your hot chocolate?" "oh, yes please," olivia says, "thank you." "no problem," i say, dropping two marshmallows in gently. i place two in mine too, and olivia walks over.

i slide her cup over, and she says 'thank you' once more. "can you leave the marshmallows out? i wanna cook them in the fireplace," olivia says. "cook?" i laugh, picking up my cup. "burn... roast! roast, that's the word," olivia laughs at her own mistake, picking up her cup too.

olivia and i sit on the floor, and i poke a marshmallow through the skewer. i brush my fingers onto the napkin, taking off the powder. olivia does the same, and i pull the screen down from the fireplace. she puts her marshmallow in, rotating it. i look down at mine, hearing olivia blurt out cuss words.

i immediately look up, seeing her marshmallow on fire. "shit! shit!" olivia panics. i laugh, putting my hand over hers and pulling the marshmallow out of the fireplace. i blow it out, revealing the black marshmallow. "uh... crunch. flavor... spice," olivia convinces herself to try and feel better about the marshmallow she just burnt. "don't eat that," i laugh, pulling the marshmallow out, making it drop onto the tissue, "grab a new one." "forgot how quick they burn," olivia smiles, taking another from the bag.

i look at olivia's gifts in my hands, heading downstairs. "okay, i'm ready!" i yell. "i know, i've been waiting!" olivia laughs. i smile, jogging to the couch.

i put on the christmas hoodie olivia had given me with her face on it, standing up. "i'm never gonna get over these," olivia laughs. i smile at olivia's phone as she takes a picture from the couch. "i'm never gonna stop wearing these," i say, sitting back down.

olivia had been complaining her phone has been stuffing up for the past few months, lagging and crashing her apps every few minutes. she went to apple, but they said they couldn't do anything about it. olivia was too lazy to get another phone, so i took this as a perfect opportunity. i hand olivia my gift to her, taking a deep breath.

olivia starts to unwrap it, and you could see the apple logo. her smile drops, and she looks at me. "are you serious?" she asks, tears already forming. "yeah," i smile, "open it." olivia unwraps it, placing the box and wrapper beside her, leaning forward and hugging me. "you didn't have to," she says. "i would've gone crazy with all the complaining," i joke, "kidding. it's okay, liv. you deserve it." "thank you so much," olivia says, "i love you." olivia lets go, picking up the phone. "i love you more," i smile, "and i got you a screen protector and a clear phone case because i didn't know what you wanted, but i can order you another phone case if you want, this was just a temporary one." i hand olivia the screen protector and case that was also wrapped. olivia chuckles, "you're the best."

olivia and i sit in bed, and i look over at her. "you've already started reading it?" i ask, seeing olivia reading one of the books i got her. "yes, i've been dying to read it," she giggles, keeping her eyes on the book. i smile, looking down at one of the two rings olivia had got me since 'i always play with hers' she says. it was shaped as a spider-web, and it went around my index finger on my left hand. the other one was a silver band on my right hand, middle finger.

on the inside of the ring, my first name was engraved with a 'plus', then olivia's name after, our names being wrapped around half of the ring. on the other half of the ring, it said 'forever and always'.

i move closer to olivia, putting my phone beside her. she looks up from her book, seeing the camera in between us. she smiles, pressing her lips against my cheek. i take the photo with a smile, and olivia pulls back, kissing me on the cheek quickly before looking at my phone.

i type 'merry christmas from liv and i❤️💚', posting it to my story. "oh, look what i did," olivia says, picking up her phone. she turns it to the back, and i see a small photograph of olivia and i. she hands me her phone, and i hold it closer to my face. "where did you get that from?" i laugh, "it's really cute." "i tried to print the picture for a photograph to frame but i didn't read the size so it came out like this," olivia explains, "i was wondering why it was so cheap to print." "well, everything works out in the end," i say, handing her phone back to her. olivia smiles, placing her book down on her lap and placing her phone beside her.

olivia looks at me, "thank you... really. for everything. i love you so much." i chuckle, "thank you for everything too. i love you so much more." "shut up!" olivia pushes my shoulder, laughing.

i lay my head on olivia's shoulder, looking at what she's reading. "i don't actually know what the book's even about," i tell her. "well, it's about this hollywood actor who's determined to secure an a-list place in the industry so she marries seven husbands and outlives them all," olivia explains. "wow, so that's why it's called the seven husbands of evelyn hugo," i say sarcastically. "i think so," olivia chuckles.

i watch olivia as she reads, her eyes moving across the page. i change my laying position, rolling myself over olivia and laying my head on her chest. "are you sleeping now?" olivia asks, resting her hands on my back as she holds the book. "yeah," i answer. "okay, i'll sleep soon," olivia says, "goodnight, y/n. i love you, merry christmas."
