"It feels so good to finally have you back at school again, Y/N." Jennie pulled Y/N into a tight, clutching hug.
It had been a week since Y/N had stayed off school due to her fever. She had felt a lot better on the third day, but her brothers forced her to stay back longer.
She was completely fine now. Just as healthy as before.
After Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé followed, hugging her one after the other.
The girls had missed her presence a lot. They missed being entertained by her, and not just them; almost half of their year group, along with a few teachers, missed her.
She was a really fun human.
Funny, bold, intelligent, and gorgeous. Y/N's appearance screamed perfection, but it was only her who knew the insides.
Lisa linked hands with Y/N as they all stood in the hallway near their lockers, helping Y/N catch up on what she had missed during the week of her absence.
Nothing that had happened was in her interest, but she still chose to listen.
"So the nerd is back, I see."
The five girls let out a grunt of annoyance, recognising who the voice belonged to. They turned and looked back.
"Don't you have anything better to do, Soobin?" Jennie left with a low chuckle of irritation.
"What's better than hanging out with friends?" He curled the corner of his lip.
"Then go make friends to hang out with instead of annoying us." Y/N forced a smile. "Let's go, guys; we've got a class to attend in 5. That's way more important—to me at least."
She started taking steps forward, looking straight into Soobin's eyes with a blank face. Lisa went along with her.
Soon, the other three girls followed behind.
They all walked past him, pinning him with a glare so sharp that, surprisingly, the poor guy didn't disintegrate into ashes.
The guy, who had held his breath for a moment, gulped a lump down his throat in nervousness.
"That girl will be the cause of my death," he mumbled to himself, referring to Y/N, and left the place.
"Wanna say something?" she asked her best friend, who had been staring at her since their class started. They were already 8 minutes into the lesson.
"It's been a while, Y/N," Lisa sighed.
Y/N put a pause on her writing and gave her full attention to Lisa.
"A while since what? What's wrong?" She grabbed her best friend's hands in worry.
"Since us," Lisa confessed.
"huh?"
"I mean, since we've had me and you time together, you know," it clicked in Y/N's mind. "I really miss you."
She hadn't really had the time to spend too much time with Lisa since her mom remarried. And normally, they would hang out at least five days a week.
Y/N realised that, due to being so cooped up with her new life and trying to spend time with her brothers, she had unwillingly forgotten to make time for her best friend.
It was really true that the two were inseparable. They could not go a day without each other. They definitely had to call or text on the days they did not meet.
But lately, it has mostly been calls and texts and not many hangouts alone.
Lisa really did miss Y/N.
"Silly girl. You could have just said that you knew. Let's go out today; I'll drop Jin Oppa a text." Y/n chuckled.
"Wait really?" Lisa's eyes glossed. She was happy to hang out with her best friend. Again. After a while.
She looked around the place, trying to find the perfect book to read for the next two hours.
Their lessons were cancelled for these periods due to an event taking place.
Lisa and Rosé, being a part of the event, could not be with Y/N, nor could Jennie or Jisoo, as they were both helping with arranging the event.
Perhaps Y/N would be lonely for the next couple of hours.
So she does not get bored, she decides to go to their school library, which is used very rarely by the students.
"Found it!" She smiled to herself but dropped it, realising it was further out of her reach. She sighed and kissed her teeth. "If only I were a little taller."
"Need help?" She flinched at the unexpectedly cold voice hitting her ears.
She looked to her right and saw Soobin standing there, leaning his side against the shelf and smirking down at her.
She frowned but chose to ignore him.
Being the tease he is, he pulled out the book and placed it on an even higher shelf. It did not bother her at all, though. She just picked up the book that was easy to reach and walked away.
He looked at her, shocked.
Scoffing, he grabbed a random book placed there on the shelf and tailed behind her.
He sat on the chair placed in front of her on the table, earning no attention in return.
He cleared his throat before starting to speak, more like doing a part of his daily routine that was to annoy Y/N.
"Where is your tail today?" He referred to Lisa and laughed at his own question to her, expecting her to react or at least get mad. All he wanted was for her to talk to him, even if it meant getting yelled at by her.
But she stayed silent. Not a single word left her mouth. She kept turning the pages, busing herself into reading and not acknowledging him. As if he wasn't even visible to her.
He could not stand her silence anymore. He snatched the book from her hands in an instant and tossed it somewhere in the room.
Y/N let out a deep breath and gave Soobin a bored look.
"What do you seek of me?" She asked in a firm manner.
"Why are you ignoring me?"
"That's what you get for calling me a nerd." She plainly replied and laid her head down on the round table.
"What the—you know it was a joke, right?"
"Well, I did not take it as a joke, Mr. Tom Holland wannabe." Her voice came out muffled due to her head being dug into her arms on the table.
"Not that name again." He scoffed
"Deal with it. And to answer your question from earlier, Lisa is my best friend, not my tail. She is busy with that school event that's taking place right now, and the others have parts in it as well. I wish I could take part in it, but I was off school, so I could not, and now I'm stuck here with you, of all people."
Soobin gave her a look of disbelief.
"Hey-" he was going to argue back, but she cut him off with a low grunt.
"Save your breath; I feel sleepy now. Wake me up in like an hour and 45 minutes." After that, it all went silent. She had immediately fallen asleep due to exhaustion.
The only voice that was heard in the room was his increasing heartbeat. He was always nervous around her, yet he tried to act tough.
School had ended for the day, and most students were headed towards their homes now.
Loud yells and laughs
The excitement of finally getting out of school was really getting to them. They ran all around the place, not bothered to apologise to the people they bumped into during the process.
"And yea, we did not do much; we just gave speeches on why we should help keep our environment safe. That was so boring."
Lisa ranted to Y/N about how boring the speech-giving event was.
"But you, my love, what did you do?"
This time, Y/N ranted and complained about everything that had happened in the library.
"Argh, I thought I had warned that guy to keep away from you. I'll have to deal with him again later." Lisa said in rage.
"Let's forget about him for now. We're going to hang out at the mall, right?"
"Yup"
They both clung their arms together, smiling at each other, and walked out of the school building through the main exit giant gate.
They happily entered the mall, laughing and thinking about cherishing the moments they were going to spend together for the day.
After all, they were having their best friend's time in a while.
They had just happened to realise how much they had missed each other's presence.
Y/N's arms were attached to Lisa's.
They took steps together, exploring the huge mall that had quite a few lavish stores that one would love to make a stop at.
The girls stepped into multiple stores, choosing different and eye-catching clothing options that would make a perfect fit.
"Bae, what do you think about this one?" Lisa laughs to herself.
"That's a bikini top." Y/N gives Lisa a judgy look.
"Yup, and I think we'd look sexy in it." Lisa winks in a flirtatious way.
"Oh, sure, what's the worst that could happen? Right, our brothers will dig a 7-foot-deep grave and bury us in it for showing too much skin."
"Girl, you're no fun."
"Oh, my lord, Y/N, we should go to that store." Lisa points across the hallway.
"To buy vapes?"
"...yh"
Y/N takes a deep breath before patting Lisa's shoulders and walking towards the escalators going downstairs.
"Yo, I was just joking." Lisa ran after her, getting down on the escalator as well.
As soon as they approached to get off, Lisa groped on Y/N's back and made her jump off the last step together. She was mindful not to trip. And nobody else was in the elevator except for those two.
"What in the-"
Without any warning, Lisa mercilessly started tickling Y/N. Receiving lively yelps from her.
Y/N elbowed her arm away, and as Lisa slightly backed away, she took the opportunity to get revenge and start tickling her back.
Lisa screamed soon, starting to endlessly laugh.
The girls weren't crazy enough to do it in front of the public. They did not want people to think they had landed there after escaping from a mental asylum.
The mall barely had any people in it. Pretty much as expected since it wasn't a weekend.
"Stop stop! I'm sorry," Lisa whined.
Y/N finally had mercy and gave up.
Lisa took a moment to catch her breath, and once she was stable enough, she and Y/N looked at each other before bursting into a roar of laughter.
They once again linked hands before walking away.
"Damn, this thing's good."
They munched on their tacos that had just been served to them a few minutes earlier.
"Wanna try some of mine?" Y/N asks, and Lisa nods in return.
They both moved their tacos closer to each other, feeding one bite of their share to each other.
"Yum"
"Yooo, let's get a picture of you real quick!" Lisa squealed.
She had forced and pushed Y/N into sitting in a big shopping trolley.
Y/N posed for the camera anyway, sticking her tongue out with a closed eye and a half heart with her two fingers. Lisa completed the heart by moving her hand slightly in front of her phone.
"Picture perfect!" they high-fived.
As they kept walking further, they happened to come across an arcade.
They grew happier as they saw their favourite ball pit in the corner. It had been their favourite thing ever since they were little kids.
Giving each other a nod, they ran towards the ball pit and made a jump right inside of it.
They yelled and yelped in joy as they kept picking and shooting those colourful plastic balls at each other inside the gigantic ball pit.
"YAHHH!!"
After all of that, on this jarring day, they were finally ready to head back home.
They both stated that they had a lot of fun.
They did not want the day to end yet, but here they were.
They had done a lot of shopping, carrying about five bags in each hand.
They did not remember the last time they had spent together doing such fun things with each other; it was really pleasant and pleasing for the two of them.
They were both happy and problem-free at this moment. How about the next moment?
"Oh no, I'm so sorry."
Y/N quickly apologised to the men she had just bumped into.
She was walking with Lisa beside her, trying to look for her phone in her bag to text her brother. She was so unfocused on her route that she failed to see the guy wearing black jeans along with a black hoodie, his head and face totally covered with a black mask.
She accidentally bumped into him and quickly apologised in guilt, but on the plus side, she ended up finding her phone.
The guy gives her a slight nod before she walks away.
When she's finally out of sight, the guy creepily smirks to himself behind that mask.
He inhales a huge breath.
"Vanilla and strawberry." He darkly chuckles.
'That was Y/N's scent.'___________________________________
