I It was just another boring Saturday.
Soobin was over at Y/N's place for tutoring to make the day even more stodgy and dull.
"For the seventh time, Soobin, that's aerobic respiration, not anaerobic." She slapped her own forehead, gritting her teeth in annoyance. 'Gosh, how much more dumb could this guy be?'
"Anaerobic reactions occur without oxygen and release less energy but more quickly. Aerobic respiration does the exact opposite. It occurs with oxygen and releases more energy, but more slowly. Do you understand?"
He nods. Finally understanding how it works.
Well, he had started to focus when she spoke in frustration just now. Before that, he had busied himself staring at her as she talked and explained biology to him.
Y/N is normally a very patient person; she was just very exhausted after not being able to get enough sleep due to her insomnia for the past few days.
She had no clue what triggered it.
Maybe too much sugar contains food? It couldn't be. Lisa makes sure she never exceeds her limits on sugar.
Maybe stress? It couldn't be that she had her brothers and Lisa too.
Maybe studies? No way. She does not even have to study before going to an exam hall, thanks to her IQ level.
Then what was the reason?
What was worse was that she hadn't informed her brothers, her parents, or Lisa about it.
She did not want them to get worried.
"Here." She writes down some questions on paper about what they just learned before passing it on to him. "Answer these and wake me up once you're done."
She buried her head in her arms, placing them on the table, before closing her eyes.
He, on the other hand, looked back and forth from her to the paper.
There were seven questions he had to answer, and if he had learned anything today, it was only what anaerobic and aerobic respiration were.
Lord, he was doomed.
Fear instantly lingered in his eyes. He was never afraid of anything as much as he was of an angry Y/N.
Oh, he knew she'd eat him up alive when she woke up in the next 10 minutes, finding his empty paper. And she was already running out of patience.
"Out of 7 questions, you got none of them right. Why is it like this, always?" She gave him an intense gaze. "Choi. Do you pay any attention to the teaching at all?"
He looked away, avoiding her gaze. She nods to herself, clutching her teeth together.
"Listen here if you aren't interested in studying; go back home; that way you won't waste the time of either of us. I have a million other things to do, and one of them includes giving myself time. The one whole hour of my life every week that I give you, only for you to not learn anything and waste it, I could gracefully use for myself. So tell you what—go home and think to yourself if you really are willing to study and pass or if you want to repeat the same year again. It's up to you, and let me be clear, wasting my time isn't one of the options," she breathed. "You may leave now, Choi. It's 12."
Y/N lashed out on him. It was her frustration speaking, not hers. She was a person overflowing with patience, but something had been bothering her lately.
She did not say another word to him; she just got up from her seat and walked to her bathroom.
Soobin wore a slight frown as he looked at her disappearing figure.
"You heard my sister, Soobin. Leave."
He looked behind him and found Taehyung leaning against the door, wearing a smirk of satisfaction.
Soobin's face darkened as he stood up from his seat and grabbed his bag. He took sharp steps towards her brother, stopping right in front of his face.
"I may be leaving for now, but don't miss me too much. I'll be back next week. Y/N herself will bring me here, Taehyung-shi." He spoke in a cold whisper that made Taehyung try his best to keep still and not end up murdering a minor.
Soobin took a step back and smiled as if he did not just speak to her brother in an authoritative manner as if he owned him.
"And yes, I did hear what your stepsister said."
Oh no.
Soobin had been Taehyung's last straw.
None of the brothers liked it when someone called their sister their stepsister. They had accepted her wholeheartedly. It hurt them mostly to hear that, but their pain soon transformed into anger.
The same thing happened to Taehyung right now; he was enraged with Soobin calling his own sister his stepsister.
Soobin was dead meat, for sure.
"Are you still here?"
Or maybe not yet.
Y/N came out of the bathroom, and her voice made Taehyung back away. He did not wish for his little sister to witness a deadly murder.
"Oh, he was just going to leave. Not in a rude way, Soobin, but I think you should leave now. Our family is waiting to go out together; we wouldn't want an outsider to join our family bonding time now, would we?"
If Soobin was going to play mind games, so was he.
"How about this dress?" Jungkook and Jin choke on their water when Y/N walks out of the changing room wearing a short spaghetti-strep body-con white dress.
It was simple, yet she pulled it off looking like an actual princess. What made her stand out more was her long, brown, silky hair.
She looked just perfect.
But the only problem were her seven overprotective brothers.
Though she looked like a goddess in it, it was way too short, according to her brothers.
They strictly said they wished for her skirts and dresses length to be at least an inch below her knees.
It was only her who knew how she'd manage to deal with them every day wearing her school skirt.
"Y/n, that's way too short!" Yoongi and Namjoon shook their heads at her. Technically telling her not to buy it.
"And that dress barely covers anything." Jimin and J-hope do the same thing Namjoon and Yoongi did.
"You're not buying that dress, Y/N." Jin and Jungkook directly say no.
"And seven." Y/N looked at them with a sad face.
Indeed, she was so done with them. It was the seventh time they rejected her clothing options. She was so tired of having to walk inside that changing room.
"Guys, this dress isn't even that bad, and besides, I look good in it too, she whined to them.
"I love your confidence," Jimin teased.
"It's a little thing called self-love. Start listening to BTS, and you'll know." She gave him a fake smile.
"Oh my, you've started to listen to our songs?" Jungkook acted shocked.
"Don't try to change the subject midway. Finish the one you started. Please let me buy this dress."
"Damn. This girl is no joke," they laughed.
"Fine. You can buy it but wear it only when you're with family, yh?" Yoongi, being the sweet heart he is, showed some mercy towards the whiney girl.
"Argh... fine."
She finally gave in.
"Hyung, that's not right!"
The six brothers soon started arguing among themselves.
What made it funny were their cries.
Y/N slightly frowned when she did not catch a sight of Taehyung. She started looking around the place, trying to find him.
Her eyes landed on his figure standing in the corner, staring at nothing. She was certain he zoned out because he could not possibly be sleeping with his eyes open.
"Hey, are you okay?"
He flinched when she neared him.
"Relax. It's just me."
"Oh hi there, Y/N." He looked at her with a barely visible smile.
"Is something bothering you?" she asks him in a gentle tone.
"Kinda."
The thing that had been stuck in his mind was Sobin. He felt very disturbed, especially after discovering that Soobin was into Y/N. He had a sudden fear that the guy would take Y/N away from her family.
"Wanna talk about it?"
"Not really." She nods, understanding him.
They both went silent for a moment, going back to looking at nothing again.
"Y/n..." she hums in response, giving him all of her attention.
She did not want him to be hurt alone.
"Can you promise me that you'll never leave us?"
She was taken aback by his random question. All she could think of was, 'Why did he even think she'd leave them?'
"What? Of course, I'll never leave you guys, I promise... And you guys are my brothers, the ones I have truly accepted. I could never imagine my life without you all. I love you all too much for that." She hugged him. "Please never even think that I'd ever leave you guys."
"I know you won't leave us, Y/N." 'We won't let you.'
He mumbled, let out a sigh of relief, and hugged her back, patting her head.
"OMG, IS THAT BTS?"
A strong wave of light flashed in their eyes, along with loud clicking sounds.
They tried to cover their eyes with their arms, trying to protect themselves from the sudden, strong light flashing.
They did not understand what was going on. Loud cheers, screams, shouts, and whines of people__________________________________
