"Have they answered their phones yet?" Jin asked, his voice tinged with worry, his eyes glancing between the clock and his phone.
"No, I still can't reach them—" Jungkook began to respond, but his words were cut short by the sudden entrance of a nurse.
"Excuse me, sir?" The nurse hurried out, her expression urgent as she scanned the waiting room. "Your sister has regained consciousness and is asking for you," she announced, her voice filled with concern. The brothers immediately exchanged tense looks, the weight of the past few hours heavy on their hearts.
They rushed into Y/n's hospital room, their footsteps echoing in the sterile corridor. As they entered, they found her lying on the bed, looking pale and fragile. Her eyes, usually bright with mischief and energy, now held a dullness that tore at their hearts. The air in the room was thick with the unspoken dread of what they had just learned—Y/n had been diagnosed with diabetes, and it felt like their world was spinning out of control.
"Y/n," Jin whispered softly, his voice catching in his throat as he approached her bedside. His usual calm demeanor was replaced by an obvious vulnerability, the kind that only surfaced when someone you love is hurting.
The others followed, their faces etched with concern and helplessness. Jungkook, always the one to hold back tears, found his resolve crumbling as he saw the sadness in Y/n's eyes. She was trying so hard to be strong, but they could see how much the diagnosis had shaken her. She looked away, unable to meet their gazes, her hands trembling slightly as she clenched the hospital sheets.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I didn't mean to worry you all... I just... I hate feeling so weak." Her words were heavy with despair, her usual spark dimmed by the weight of her new reality.
"Don't say that," Namjoon's voice broke through, firm but gentle as he sat down beside her. "You're not weak, Y/n. You're one of the strongest people we know."
"But I can't even handle this," she said, her voice cracking with emotion. "And now I'm a burden... what if Mom and Dad don't answer because they can't handle this either?"
At that, Yoongi stepped forward, his usual stoicism giving way to a rare display of emotion. "You're never a burden, Y/n. Not to us, not to them. We're going to get through this together, okay? You're our sister, and we love you."
The other brothers nodded in agreement, surrounding her with a warmth that only family could provide. Taehyung reached out to hold her hand, his thumb gently brushing over her knuckles. "We'll take care of everything, Y/n. You're not alone in this. We're all here for you, and we always will be."
Jimin, ever the empathetic one, wiped away the tears that had begun to fall from Y/n's eyes. "It's okay to be scared," he whispered. "We're scared too. But we're going to face this together, just like we always do."
Hoseok, trying to lighten the mood despite the heaviness in his heart, offered her a small, reassuring smile. "And you know, you've still got your best seven bodyguards right here. We're not going anywhere."
Y/n finally looked up, her eyes meeting each of theirs in turn. The tears that had threatened to fall were now streaming freely down her cheeks, but this time, they were mixed with gratitude. She wasn't alone. Despite the fear, despite the uncertainty, she had her brothers by her side, and that was enough to help her find the strength she needed to keep going.
The room was quiet for a moment, filled only with the soft sounds of their breathing. It was a fragile, bittersweet silence, one that spoke of love, worry, and the unbreakable bond they shared.
As they stayed by her side, the unanswered calls to their parents seemed a little less daunting. What mattered now was that they had each other, and together, they would face whatever came next.
