Four: Meeting Aubree And Tickle Fights

Today all of us would be hanging out at Matt's and since I hadn't yet, I was going to ask Matt why he told Jimmy I was home. I had planned on just waiting until we all hung out, but no. Matt went and told him, and now that I've had a couple days just to hang out with him, those damn feelings came back full force. I thought that if I met him and Aubree at the same time so that they were together, maybe they wouldn't come back. But nothing works out in my favor, now does it? 

Another thing I would have the privilage to do today is meet Aubree for the first time. I'm just real fucking pumped about it, can't you tell? But I know that it couldn't be avoided forever and I need to focus on what's happening now instead of what was in the past. He's moved on and I need to do the same. I can't hang on if he's not, and I definitely cannot allow any feelings more than what's feelings of friendship. 

Matt told me to go ahead and bring Bella over, he didn't want her to be alone and he wanted time to really play with her and give her attention, since hasn't really gotten the chance to since I've come home. 

I already sent and got my application approved for a job on the late shift at the tattoo shop. The cool thing was that Carly was moved to the late shift while I was gone because she was having trouble at the time with her schedule so she changed times. This way, I get to work with one of my old co-workers, which I'm super excited about because I've missed her as much as I missed the others.

When I got to Matt's house, I was greeted by everyone that I hadn't visited yet first, which was Brian, Emma, Johnny, and Lacey. I pretty much got squeezed to death, but I was ok with it. Jimmy was in the living room with Aubree, and when Bella saw him she ran over to him and started licking his arm happily. Jimmy laughed and pet the top of her head before looking up at me as I came into the room with the others behind Bella. His eyes lit up and he grinned, jumping up from his seat.

"Best friend!!" He tackled me with a bear hug, making me laugh.

"Well hello to you too." I smirked a little and he chuckled before letting go of me. He turned back to look at Aubree, and said,

"Aubree, this is my bestest friend in the whole wide world, Elise." He told her, and she smiled warmly as she got up off the couch, coming over to greet me personally.

"So you're the one that's been missing for a year. Matt's little sister." Aubree said, and I forced a smile.

"Yeah, that's me." I said with a light tone. "Speaking of Matthew, I need to speak with him, so if you'll both excuse me for a moment, I will be back shortly." I looked at Matt, who raised an eyebrow in surprise. I motioned for him to follow me after politely excusing myself, and we went into the hallway between his kitchen and the entryway.

"What is it you need to speak with me about?" He questioned curiously.

"Why did you tell Jimmy I was home that day that I came to see Kyle and then to see Grace and Zacky?" I asked him in a hushed tone. I didn't want the others to overhear. 

"Because I thought that he should know, given your history." Matt shrugged slightly.

"Matt, he's getting married, our history is out the window at this point! You make it sound like you don't want him to marry Aubree."  I told him. 

"Well, I'm not exactly in favor of it, but that's not exactly what I'd say. I do want him to marry her if that's what makes him truly happy, but..." Matt trailed off.

"You're gonna say the same thing Grace said, aren't you?" My voice was flat as I frowned slightly.

"What'd she say?" 

"That she's not me, and that he's supposed to marry me and not her." I crossed my arms over my chest. 

"Well, I was going to say that I think he's really truly happy with you, but that's pretty much the same idea." Matt nodded.
