When Jimmy and I arrived at his parent's house, both of them were surprised to see me with him but both were also happy to see me, and I got hugs from them both. It was his dad, Jospeh, who had spotted our intertwined fingers first and caught our drift, and he knew why I was with Jimmy today.
"Well it doesn't take you very long to get back out there, does it, son?" He patted Jimmy's shoulder, and Jimmy laughed.
"Considering I actually left Aubree for her, no, it doesn't." Jimmy replied. I felt my cheeks flare up.
"Good, we like her." Barbara, Jimmy's mom, said. Jimmy grinned and shook his head.
"I know you do, since we grew up together and what not." He said, and she smiled.
Jimmy went off into the living room with his dad, and I stayed in the kitchen with Barbara to help her with lunch. She said it was going to be a little later than planned, but no later then ten minutes more. We talked, getting caught up since it's been quite a while from the last time I visited.
"So how've you been, anyway? The last I heard, you pretty much dropped off the face of the Earth." Barbara said as she tossed a salad.
"You heard correctly, for the most part. I didn't really drop off the face of the Earth, just to most people I did. I kept contact with Matt and my parents, but that was it. But I've been good since coming back, better than good even." I played with the end of the sleeve on my jacket. At the moment there wasn't anything I needed to help with, so I was just leaning up against a counter.
"I see. Well it's good having you back. I can tell Jimmy's enjoying it if he left that Aubree for you." She glanced up at me with a small smile. "I hate saying things like this, but I'm glad he didn't go through with it. She just didn't seem right for him, but neither Joseph or I wanted to say anything because he seemed happy."
"That seems to be everyone's problem who wanted to object. Zacky, Grace, Matt. They all didn't say anything until like, two weeks before the wedding was supposed to take place because they didn't want to wreck his happiness." I said.
She nodded. "Just trying to be good friends, I suppose. I was thinking about objecting myself at the wedding, but I just didn't know that I could bring myself to do such a thing. But, I don't have to worry about that now." She smiled at me again and then said, "You spoke of Grace. How is she?"
"Oh, y'know, Grace is Grace." I smirked.
She laughed a little. "I take it she's good, then?"
"Yeah, she's good."
"And your brother? How's that baby of his?"
"Matt's fine, and I just saw Kyle yesterday. Jimmy and I agreed to watch him so Matt could take Val out. He's so adorable, I'd keep him myself if I could." I grinned, remembering the way he'd squeal when you played with him and how he fell asleep on top of Jimmy.
"He is very adorable." She agreed. "You're enjoying being an aunt?"
"Very much, if it were a past-time it'd be my favorite." I answered, and she laughed.
"So how long have you and Jimmy been together again?" Barbara asked.
"Two days after he broke things off with Aubree." I replied, leaving the fact that we were together behind everybody's back out of it. Nobody knows about that still but Jimmy, Grace and I.
"Wow, I guess it doesn't take him long then." She laughed a little, looking slightly bewildered but in a good way.
"Yeah, he asked me to move in with him right away, and so now we're both at his place with my dog Bella." I told her. "We just enjoy each other's company."
