Elise's POV
I paced the living room, waiting for Jimmy to get here while Bella watched me wearily from where she laid by the TV. He was coming over as he usually did to hang out, and I had no idea what happened with Aubree or if he even told her what he'd planned to all. It'd actually been two days since Aubree came here, and we haven't been able to see each other. He was at the studio again yesterday, and I worked yesterday, so I haven't been able to see him until later today.
I had to tell him how paranoid and uneasy I was. I thought that if he did tell Aubree they couldn't marry, he would've told me by now, so I assumed that he didn't. Considering we only have a matter of days left, that's not good. He should understand though, we'll just have to wait to be together because this is driving me nuts. I'm on edge, thinking that somehow I'll let something slip by accident due to my paranoia.
It wasn't that I didn't want to be with him, because I did, more than anything, but it was that this just wasn't going to work this way if I had to keep this up for much longer. Thanks to Aubree, I'm all fucked up in the head. Well, isn't Aubree's job to screw everything up? If so, she's doing it very well.
Hearing the front door open, I knew that Jimmy had arrived. He came into the living room, giving me a small smile and a hug. Swallowing hard and taking a deep breath, I said,
"I'm glad you're here. I really need to talk to you."
"Ok, go for it." He sat down on the couch, and I sat beside him. I stared down at my knees, biting my lip, trying to think of how to start.
"It's about us, this sneaking thing we've got going on. Since Aubree nearly caught us, I've become kind of uneasy about this whole thing. I just feel like the next time, we're going to exposed for good. So, I think that we should--" I glanced up at him when I heard him laugh very lightly. He had a grin on his face, and this confused me. "Why are you laughing and smiling?" I asked.
"Because, you're going on about this, and I told her I couldn't marry her." He said simply, and I just stared back at him.
"You... wha--.... huh?" I tripped over words.
Jimmy grinned again, taking my hands in his. "I told her that if I was going marry someone, it'd be my best friend, not a bitch like her. I told her to get the rest of her stuff and go, and I helped her yesterday after being at the studio, and I slammed the door behind her. She was pissed, but I was ecstatic."
Taking that in, I replied, "Sooo..." A smile started creeping across my face. "We don't have to be sneaky anymore? She's gone, you're not engaged anymore?"
"She's history, we don't have to sneak anymore. We're free to be together at any time." He assured me. I felt my heart start to race, he was really officially mine. He wasn't getting married, I didn't have to lose him. The best part, was that he left Aubree to be with me. Maybe he'd still kept his promise after all.
"Do the others know?"
"They know that I left Aubree, yes. They're helping me to tell the guests there's no wedding. I told my parents personally, though."
"No, I mean, do they know about... us?"
Jimmy shook his head. "Not yet. I wanted to wait to tell them with you, because there wouldn't be an us without you."
"Then when do we tell them?" I asked.
"Tomorrow? We'll have them all meet us somewhere or something?" He suggested, and I nodded, smiling. "Good." He said, putting a hand on my cheek and leaning forward. I felt his lips against mine just seconds later, and I smiled against the kiss.
