"Watch it (L/N)!" Pete growled shoving you aside. Pete Wentz, a.k.a. your biggest enemy, has been picking on you since the 8th grade. Its senior year now and his attacks have only gotten worse.
"Pete..." Patrick, his saint of a best friend warned. You had no clue why Patrick hung out with him.
"Eat me, asshole." You muttered. Pete stopped and pushed you up against a locker.
"What did you just say?" He asked menacingly.
"Pete, cut it out!" Patrick yelled pulling him off of you.
"What the hell is wrong with you man?" Patrick asked shoving Pete a little. Pete just huffed.
"Fuck off." He muttered walking away. You sat on the floor with tears in your eyes.
"H-he doesn't mean it. He...he's just not...right as of now. I'm sorry." Patrick said sitting next to you.
"What did I ever do to him?" You asked.
"He likes you. That's really the only reason."
"How can he like me but treat me this way?"
"He actually wrote you a song. Here, I have it on a CD." Patrick handed you a CD that said "It's Not A Side Effect...". You nodded your head as Patrick left you. You stood up and grabbed your backpack before running home. You put the song in your CD player and listened closely.
Why can you read me like no one else?
I hide behind these words
But I'm coming out
I wish I kept them behind my tongue
I hide behind these words
But I'm coming out
You paused the song, analyzing the words that were just said. He thinks you can read him? He hides behind his words? Maybe Pete did like you. Although he was an asshole, he wasn't always like that. In fact, you guys used to be best friends during middle school. The next day, you walked into school with a smile on your face and you put on your most flattering outfit: a grey long sleeve shirt with black arms, a black choker with a flower pendant, lace fingerless gloves, black boots, and ripped black skinny jeans. You were walking when you saw Pete standing by his locker.
"Pete!" You smiled running over to him. He turned to you with a confused look on his face.
"What the hell do you want?" He asked.
"Patrick told me, and I do like you too." You replied with a slight blush on your face.
"He told you I liked you? Wow! Who knew Patrick could be so fucking cruel." Pete laughed. Your whole mood shattered and the smile dropped from your face.
"Wh-What?" You asked.
"You're worthless! God, I don't think I could love you if I tried. All you are is a waste of space!" He growled. Tears fell from your eyes.
"N-No! You're lying. I can tell. You don't mean this." You sobbed. Pete grabbed the nearest girl next to him and kissed her.
"Does this look like I'm lying?" He asked. You cried and ran away from Pete. On your way out of the school you ran into Patrick.
"(Y/N), what's wrong? Where are you going?" He asked grabbing you. You hit him on his chest as you cried.
"He told me you lied to me; that he never liked me! How could you do this? I thought you were the nice one!" You sobbed.
"He said I lied? Pete you dumbass." Patrick said.
"He told me I was a worthless piece of space and he's right. I was just waiting for someone to notice it."
"What do you mean?" You rolled up your sleeves to show countless scars.
"All from the beginning from senior year. I just couldn't take it anymore and I'm so done." You sniffled before running out of the school.
