Walk Home

Y/n is finishing up her shift at the Grill with Matt.

"Hey I'm gonna head out, are you ok closing up?" Matt asks.

"Yeah I'm good closing, see you later" Y/n says.

"Ok bye see you later" Matt hugs her.

"Bye Mattie" Y/n says as Matt let's go and heads out the door waving to her.

She cleans up the bar and goes to flip the sign on the door to closed. As she walks over to flip the sign she sees Damon outside of the door with a smile as he waves to her. She leaves the Grill and locks it walking to Damon.

"Hello how was your shift" Damon asks with a smirk.

"It was ok" she says quietly.

Y/n and Damon walk in silence to the Gilbert house.
"Why are you here?" she finally asks quietly.

"I wanted to walk you home" Damon says.

"Why?" she asks feeling confused.

"Because it can be dangerous at night" Damon says.

She doesn't say anything and keeps walking as Damon sneaks quick glances at her when she's not looking.

"I'm sorry" Damon says quickly.

"What?" she asks not hearing him.

"I'm sorry" Damon says slower looking away from her.

"It's ok I'm used to everyone asking me if I'm ok" she mutters quietly.

"I'm not usually like this" she says quietly.

"I used to be a social butterfly but things change" she sighs sadly.

"Yeah Elena told me people call you the sweetest girl around town" Damon says with a laugh.

"Yeah I've been called that since I was little" she tells him with a small laugh.

"You're not as bad as they say you are" she says quietly after a few minutes of silence.

"Thanks but you're wrong" Damon says with a smirk.

"I think your changing or being who you used to be"
she says with a small smile looking at Damon.

"You're not like the other Gilbert's, you listen" Damon says with a genuine smile.

"I prefer to listen then speak" she says with a smile looking back at Damon.

"You are tinier then them though" Damon says with a laugh looking down at her who's head is at his chest as she laughs.

"Yeah I've been told" she rolls her eyes laughing.

Damon can't stop looking at Y/n, he thinks her smile is the prettiest thing he's ever seen and her laugh is the nicest thing he's ever heard.

"Thanks for walking with me" she thanks him with a small smile.

"Of course, Jeremy would stake me if I let anything happen to you" Damon says with a laugh.

"Yeah he probably would" she nods laughing.

"I'm sorry about my brother today, he's been over protective of me since I was born" she sighs.

"It's ok I get it you're his baby sister" Damon says.

"Yeah he won't accept that I'm an adult now" she says with a laugh.

"It took me days to convince him to let me go on the girls trip coming up" she laughs rolling her eyes.

"Days really?" Damon says with a smirk.

"Yeah days and he made me promise I would call him twice a day" she says with a laugh.

"He's protective" Damon says with a laugh.

"Yeah that's an understatement" she nods laughing.

"You have a cute smile" Damon says smirking at Y/n.

"Oh thank you" she says looking down blushing.

"Well this is me" she says arriving at her house.

"Thanks again for the company and walking me home" she says looking at Damon with a smile.

"Thank you for letting me walk you home and for the good conversation" Damon says looking at her with a genuine smile.

"Bye Damon see you around" she says.

"Bye Sunshine see you later" Damon says.

Y/n and Damon look into each other's eyes for what feels like minutes until.

"Y/n come on it's late" Jeremy says with crossed arms glaring at Damon from the front door.

"I'm coming Jer" she looks at him.

She walks up the steps onto the porch and looks back at Damon with a smile.

"Goodnight Damon, thanks again" she says with a smile.

"Goodnight Sunshine, anytime" Damon says smiling at her.

She walks inside leaving Jeremy and Damon outside.

"Thanks for walking her home, I still don't like you though and I still don't want you around her" Jeremy says with a glare and a sigh.

"I walked her here to keep her safe and I know you don't want me around her, I don't like you either" Damon says with a smirk and a sigh.

"If you lay one finger on her Damon I'll stake you before you even realize what's happening" Jeremy says with a glare.

"I wouldn't dream of hurting her" Damon says.

"Whatever you better not and just because you were invited in once doesn't mean you can come in whenever you want" Jeremy rolls his eyes.

"Bye Jeremy" Damon says turning on his heels and walking away with a smirk on his face.

"HEY I MEAN IT" Jeremy yells at him and slams the front door.

Jeremy turns only to see Y/n with a sad expression on her face.

"You could've been nicer he did keep me safe" she says with a sad sigh.

"Y/n I don't like Damon and I don't want you hanging around him" Jeremy says with a softened face.

"He's not that bad" she rolls her eyes.

"Y/n Damon has done terrible things and he hurts whoever he wants without remorse" Jeremy says sighing.

"But Jer he's nice to me" she tells him with a hopeful sweet smile.

"Y/n that's what he wants you to think" Jeremy says sighing.

"I'm 18 Jer I'm not a kid anymore I can handle myself" she says quietly with a pleading look.

"I know you're an adult but I'm still going to protect you no matter how old you are" Jeremy says as he hugs her.

"I'm trying to protect you" Jeremy says sadly.

"I know and thank you but Damon is nice to me so please let me choose who I can hangout with" she looks at him with her famous puppy dog eyes.

"Y/n come on you know I can't say no to the puppy dog eyes" Jeremy says with a laugh and sigh.

"I know that's why I'm doing them" she tells him with a big smile.

"Please..Please...Please Jer" she tries to plead with him.

"Ok only because I can't say no" Jeremy says with a laugh.

"Ok I'm going to bed, night I love you" Jeremy says going upstairs.

"Night Jer love you too" she calls back with a big smile on her face.

She stared at the ceiling of her bedroom while laying in bed thinking about what happened with Damon. She smiles to herself thinking about Damon saying she has a cute smile.

"I think I'm falling for Damon Salvatore" she says to herself quietly sighing.
