An Old Friend

"Y/n!" Elena calls for her sister from the living room of the Salvatore House.

"Coming!" Y/n calls back.

Y/n walks down the stairs to see Stefan and Elena talking quietly looking nervous.

"Hey El what's going on?" Y/n asks concerned.

"When Stefan was out making sure you were safe because of your new powers he felt a presence of a vampire" Elena says nervously.

"Ok it could've been someone from our group" Y/n shrugs.

"It felt different Y/n" Stefan voices concerned.

"So what does that mean?" Y/n asks confused.

"It means we have to take you to the cabin" Elena says sadly.

"What! No I can't go into hiding again" Y/n says sadly.

"Y/n this is the only way to make sure you're safe" Elena says holding Y/n's shoulder.

"You don't get it you and Jeremy understood all of this occult stuff while I was in a cabin being hidden" Y/n says sadly.

"Y/n it won't be for long just until we find who the vampire is" Stefan says reassuringly.

"Fine I'll go" Y/n says looking down sighing.

"Ok good Damon will be going with you keeping you safe while Stefan, Caroline, Bonnie, Jeremy, Rebekah, Elijah and I try to find the vampire" Elena says hugging Y/n tightly.

"You should go pack you're leaving when you're ready" Elena says letting go of Y/n.

"Ok I'll go pack" Y/n says walking up the stairs.

Y/n is packed and ready to go getting into the vehicle with Elena and Stefan driving to the cabin.
They get to the cabin to see Damon standing outside waiting.
Y/n gets out of the vehicle with Elena and Stefan close to her.

"Ok be careful, if you need anything call me I love you" Elena says hugging Y/n tightly.

"Ok I will and I love you to, stay safe" Y/n smiles at her.

"Keep her safe don't let anything happen" Stefan tells Damon protectively.

"I know she'll be safe" Damon assures him looking at Y/n.

"Bye Y/n stay safe" Stefan says hugging Y/n.

"Bye I will, be careful" Y/n says letting go.

"Bye love you" Elena calls to Y/n driving away with Stefan back to the Salvatore House.

"Bye love you too!" Y/n calls waving to Elena.

Y/n watches Elena and Stefan drive out of view from the cabin with a sad look on her face.

"Cheer up Sunshine" Damon says walking up to Y/n.

"Hi Damon" she mutters sadly.

"What sad to be alone with me?" Damon asks teasingly.

"No it's not that I just was hidden here for a year" she tells him remembering when Jeremy took her to the cabin to keep her safe but Y/n didn't know that at the time.

"Elena told me" Damon says looking at her.

"Yeah it was just me and Jeremy" she says sadly.

"I snuck out to see Elena and that's how I found out about vampires" she smiles.

"You're only here until we find the vampire" Damon says.

"I know it just brings back some memories" she says looking down.

Later in the day Y/n is reading her book sitting at the base of an old tree when she hears a twig snap.

"Hello!" she calls out growing more nervous as she looks at the forest around her.

"Is anyone there?" she asks looking to where the noise came from.

"Hello Dear"

She turns quickly with a big smile when she recognizes the voice.

"Enzo!" she exclaims hugging him tightly.

"I missed you too" Enzo pats her head chuckling.

"I missed you where were you?" she asks worried.

"I went everywhere" Enzo says smirking.

"Y/n!" Damon calls out coming closer seeing Enzo near her.

"Enzo get the hell away from her" Damon says angrily.

"Relax old friend" Enzo says letting go of her.

"Damon what's wrong?" she asks looking between the two confused.

"Did you compel her?" Damon asks getting closer to Enzo and grabbing the collar of his shirt.

"Damon!" she calls out loudly.

"He's my friend" she assures looking at Damon.

"What?" Damon asks concerned.

"Enzo is my friend" she repeats smiling at Enzo.

"I'm her friend Damon" Enzo says looking at Damon.

Damon tightens his grip on Enzo staring at him dead in the eyes as his jaw clicks in annoyance and anger.

"Damon please" she pleads.

"He was all I had when being hidden here" she confesses sadly.

Damon lets go of Enzo looking down at her in confusion and his face softens at her sad tone.

Enzo grabs a large stick snapping it quickly and stabbing it into Damon's shoulder.

"Enzo!" she yells warningly and glares at him.

"Damon are you okay?" she asks worriedly.

"I'm fine" Damon says pulling out the stick groaning in pain.

"Enzo don't hurt Damon and Damon don't hurt Enzo" she demands looking at them.

"Enzo say sorry, please" she looks over at Enzo with a small glare with a stern face.

"He started it" Enzo says looking at Damon glaring.

"Enzo please" her glare softens and looks at him with doe eyes.

"Fine, I'm sorry for stabbing you with a stick" Enzo rolls his eyes scoffing.

"Thank you now both of you promise to not hurt each other" she nods looking at them.

"I promise" They both mutter glaring at each other.

"It feels good to be back" Enzo says smiling at her and looking around the property the cabins on.
