Y/n walks into the Gilbert house after her walk with Alaric and walks up to her bedroom grabbing the book she's reading at the moment and decides to lay on her bed finally feeling sleep catching up to her.

As she's reading she feels her eyes beginning to close and her head slump over.

Damon walks into her room from the window smiling when he sees her asleep with her book in her hand still. He walks over taking the book making sure to put the bookmark back knowing she'll be upset if he doesn't and carefully moves her to a more comfortable position and pulls the blanket over her shoulders.
He kisses her head and lays down on the other side of the bed with his head leaning on the headboard.

She mumbles incoherent words in her sleep turning over and nudging closer to Damon who wraps his arm around her.

The sun streams through the curtain into the room causing Y/n to stir in her sleep and crack open her eyes tiredly.

"Good morning"

She jumps falling off of the bed onto the floor with a loud crack.

"Jesus Sunshine you alright?" Damon flashes to her side trying to help her up but backs away when she flinches at his touch.

She remembers where she is and looks up at him noticing the hurt look flash across his face.

"Damon I'm so sorry" she stands up walking closer to him trying to grab his hands but he puts them behind his back.

"It's fine I understand" he nods with a sigh.

"Damon..I just had a nightmare last night about what happened and I guess I'm still a bit shaken up" she explains gently.

"It's okay" he assures her taking a seat on the bed.

She takes a seat beside him grabbing his hand and giving it a squeeze leaning her head on his shoulder.

"I love you" she looks up at him with a smile.

"I love you too" he looks down at her and can't help but smile and lean down to kiss her.

"What the hell?!"

Y/n jumps away from Damon looking at the door seeing Jeremy and Elena standing there with Stefan.

"Why is he here?" Jeremy points at Damon glaring.

"Jeremy, we're back together" Y/n leans down grabbing Damon's hand giving it a squeeze.

"He almost killed you and you're just what pretending it never happened?" Jeremy scoffs shooting Damon a hardened glare.

"No I remember what happened but Damon wasn't himself and he explained everything, and I'm still in love with him" Y/n tries to explain holding Damon's hand for support.

"What happened to Matt?" Jeremy asks with a sigh.

"We're just friends, some things don't work out" Y/n explains looking away guiltily.

Damon holds hand gently making sure she knows that he's there to support her no matter what.

"I'm not supporting this but I can't change your mind so I'll play nice" Jeremy sighs.

"Thank you!" Y/n runs over wrapping her arms around his shoulders in a bone crushing hug.

"Just remember I will stake him if he tries anything" Jeremy glares at Damon over her shoulder.

"I know" she nods with an eye roll.

"Elena?" Y/n looks over at her sister with a hopeful smile.

"I'm still upset with him but I know you love him so I'm fine with it" Elena smiles at her.

"Thank you" Y/n smiles at her giving her a hug.

"I knew you'd forgive him" Stefan smiles at her and his brother.

Y/n and Damon walk through the forest near the cabin deciding to have a calm day away from everything except themselves and nature.

Y/n walks slightly ahead of Damon making flowers grow with every step she takes as she looks around with a peaceful smile but as a memory crosses her mind her smiles fades into an uneasy silence.

"Damon?" she speaks up avoiding looking at him.

"Yes?" Damon answers watching her closely noticing that she's nervous.

"What would happen if I left for a few months?" she asks looking at a flower she grew.

"Why would you leave?" he asks confused where the idea came from.

"Alaric asked if I wanted to go with him the next time he took off" she explains.

"Do you want to go?" he asks watching her.

"I think I do" she nods.

"Why do you want to go?" he asks concerned that it's him who's pushing her away to leave.

"I need a break from Mystic Falls, I need a break from all the occult stuff, I don't know I guess it would be nice to just relax for once and not feel so on edge all the time" she explains quietly.

"I want you to come with me" she says before he thinks he's in the mix of things she wants a break from.

"You do?" he asks watching her closely for any hesitation but doesn't see anything.

"Yes I want you to come along, I know I want a break from the occults but you don't count" she finally looks up at him smiling.

He nods walking over and wrapping her into his arms kissing her head affectionately.

"If that's what you want then I'll go" he smiles down at her.

"I love you" she smiles up at him.

"I love you too" he returns the smile and leans down kissing her softly.
