It's been a week since Y/n and Damon spent the night together and they continue to see each other in secret so no one from the group sees them. This past week has been like how they were before the breakup, that was before one night at 2am.

Y/n walks into the Salvatore house calling out to see if anyone is there when in a flash Damon shows up in his vampire form sinking his teeth into her neck.

She lets out a blood curdling scream as she feels her body being drained of blood and begins to go limp in his grasp.

Y/n shoots out of bed with a scream starting to  hyperventilate tucking her knees closer to her face at the top of the bed beginning to cry.

Elena and Jeremy run into the room looking around for anything that could be a danger but when they see their little sister crying on her bed they understand that it's a nightmare and walk closer sitting on her bed.

"Hey it's okay we're here" Jeremy soothes rubbing her back.

Y/n nods untucking her legs and throws herself into his arms crying onto his chest trying to talk but only sobs are heard.

"It's okay you're safe" he assures squeezing her tightly.

"I'll make you some tea to help relax your nerves" Elena smiles and walks out going to make tea.

Jeremy continues to hold his little sister as her tears begin to dry and she sits in a dead silence letting her dream fully set into her mind.

How can she have a nightmare now that her and Damon are together again and are better than ever?

"You alright?"

Jeremy's voice breaks her out of her thoughts and she turns to him nodding with a guilty expression.

After Y/n gets her tea and assures her siblings that she's okay they reluctantly leave back to bed as she grabs one of her books taking a seat on her window seat beginning to read.

Not able to focus on the book she closes it looking out of the window at the dark street where only one street light stands flickering. She stands up throwing on a heavy sweater leaving her room.

Once downstairs she slips her shoes on and walks over  to the door trying to be as quiet as possible.

"Where are you going?"

She jumps turning to the voice and sees Alaric sitting up groggily on the couch.

"For a walk to clear my head, did you sleep here?" she answers and asked him.

"I'll come with you and yeah I didn't want to leave you alone" he nods standing up.

She nods not wanting to refuse the company and waits for him to throw on his jacket and shoes before the two made their way outside into the cool crisp air.

The two walk down the street in no particular direction just continuing to walk.

"What's on your mind?" he asks looking over at her.

"I had a nightmare" she tells him.

"Yeah I woke up running upstairs but saw your brother and sister were already there so I backed off" he nods looking at her with a sad smile.

"You know don't you?" she asks glancing at him wearily.

"About you and Damon? Yeah I've known for a few days" he nods.

"You're not going to yell at me?" she asks surprised.

"No I'm not gonna yell at ya, look kid I'm not your dad but I do have this sense of parenting you and your siblings..ever since Jenna and even though I don't understand why you're giving him another chance I understand that he loves you and feels terrible for what he did" he smiles at her.

"Me and Jenna would joke that you were the Gilbert's honorary dad" she smiles over at him nudging his shoulder laughing.

"Yeah she used to laugh at me all the time for being protective over you kids...I'm sorry for being gone a lot" he apologizes.

"It's okay I understand...I know that being here reminds you of her I get it, I constantly have to remind myself that nothings the same" she sighs looking up at a flickering street light.

"What if you came with me the next time I take off to somewhere new?" he asks softly.

"Really?" she asks surprised that he'd offer.

"Yeah I mean it's just me all the time, I can help you train like I did with Elena and we can just leave Mystic Falls" he explains further.

"That sounds great but I'll be leaving everyone" her large smile falters coming to a straight line.

"Think about it" he shrugs nudging her shoulder.

She nods with a small smile and they continue to walk down the street talking about random topics passing the time until one of them are too tired to continue walking.
