"Hey", a small smile showed on my face.
"Hi." He lifted his eyebrows and grinned.
He looked so good, and he was simply wearing shorts and a T-shirt.There it was again.
Those butterflies in my chest."Can I help you with something?" I asked.
"Well, since the two lovebirds are finally out on their first date", he started. I laughed.
He smiled and continued. "I was wondering if you wanted to do something tonight?"I felt a mixture of happiness and nervousness in my stomach.
"Um, sure." I said.
I was still wearing my clothes from earlier and grabbed a jacket quickly. We got out of the hotel and walked around until we found a nice restaurant.
It was an intimate little outdoor place, with many couples seated. The waiter at the front guided us to our seats, where our view overlooked the river.
We were reading our menus and deciding what we wanted to order when the waiter came up. She was a teenage girl, a few years younger than us.
"Hi, my name is Alessia, and I will be your waiter tonight-" She stopped mid-sentence. Her jaw dropped.
"Oh, my god." She exclaimed. "Are you the Pedri?" She froze.
He let out a chuckle, nodding.
"I'm so sorry, I'm trying to remain professional but I just want to say I am such a fan."
"Thank you, thank you", Pedri stated.
"And this must be your girlfriend" She looked at me grinning. "Wow, you're pretty. you two make such a good couple."
"Oh no, we aren't together", I let out a small laugh. "We're just..."
I looked over at Pedri, for some help to finish my sentence, but he just looked at me.
"We're friends. I think." I voiced.
I looked back at Pedri, and he was still staring at me.
Alessia looked back and forth between the both of us."Well, what can I get you two?" She said, breaking the silence.
We placed our orders, and Alessia asked Pedri if she could get a picture with him.
Pedri said yes, and I offered to take it for them. After she thanked us and left, the air was slightly tense for some reason.
Could it be because I said Pedri and I were 'friends'?
Had I overstepped the boundaries?
Oh my god.... I'm sure he didn't consider us friends..."So.... We're friends, huh?" It was almost like Pedri had read my mind and decided to bring up the topic of exactly what I was thinking.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know what to say. I should've said acquaintances".
"Why?" He looked confused.
"I don't know.... we used to hate each other, and-"
"No", he smirked, "You hated me, but I never hated you. You were just outspoken, and not afraid to back down, and I've never met a girl like that." He smiled, his eyes staring directly into mine.
"Oh..um.." I wasn't sure what to say.
"But I like you Y/N, and I'd say we are friends, Y/N. At least I think so." He looked at me hopeful.
"I think so too." I nodded. "I guess you're not so bad after all" I joked, rolling my eyes.
Pedri laughed. "I'm not an asshole anymore, hey?"
(He was referring to the day in the gym when I called him an asshole after he tried to convince everyone that love wasn't real.)
"I'm sorry for that." I chuckled. "I just say what I feel, and sometimes the wrong thing comes out. I shouldn't have called you that."
"It's fine. To be fair, I was being one".
Our food came shortly after, and we continued talking and laughing through dinner. It was easy to talk to Pedri now, and after all, becoming friends, we were now comfortable around each other.
Not to mention, I could feel myself forming a tiny little crush....
But I would keep that to myself. And I'm sure this feeling would soon go away. Ithad to... right?...
