After dinner, the weather was still mostly warm, and we decided to go for a walk on the beach.

It was fun getting to know Pedri, and I was also opening up a lot.

"So, do you like your job?" Pedri asked.
The sun had set, and it was slightly dark as we were walking on the sand, barefoot.

"I do". I nodded my head. "I get to work in the nicest country and go on holidays like this. I've made a best friend in Carmen and working with my uncle is actually pretty good."
"Any downsides?"
"Just missing my family, and some of my friends back home."
"I mean...you can't complain too much. You get to see my face all the time". Pedri teased.
"Oh of course", I rolled my eyes, smiling at the same time. "That just fills me with joy".
He laughed.

I said it as a joke.... but then I thought to myself 'Was I actually joking'?
I'm a happy and content person on my own, and I have never needed a partner to fulfill any aspect of my life.

But I felt an attraction towards Pedri.

A feeling that I hadn't really felt before towards anyone.
I could be myself around him, and we also had the best conversations and laughs.

He made me feel comfortable and safe.

After an hour's night walk, we decided to make our way back to the hotel room.

We were less than a block away when I saw Gavi and Carmen walking opposite us.
"Oh my god, there they are," I said.

I had told Pedri earlier that this night was about Carmen and Gavi, and I didn't want anything to take that away. Not even Pedri and I being official 'friends' and going to dinner. He understood.

I turned to Pedri as he looked in their direction, and his eyes went wide.

The next thing I knew, he grabbed me, and we hid behind a wall.
"Gavi looked in our direction", he said.
"Did he see?" I asked.
"I don't think so. But that was close". Pedri let out a breath.
I started giggling, and Pedri's laugh followed.

I suddenly came to the realization of how we were standing.
I was leaning against the wall, with Pedri facing me, his hands around my waist.

I could feel my face redden, and hot flushes throughout my body.

Our two bodies were closely pressed, and we were looking deep into each other's eyes.

Pedri's face inched closer, but the sound of a passerby's footsteps stopped us.

We pulled away from each other.

"Uh, shall we go in now?" I said, playing with my hair, trying to regain my focus from what might've almost happened.

Did he lean in to kiss me?

"Yeah," Pedri said, looking somewhat dismayed. "I think they'll be in their rooms by the time we get there".

We made our way inside our hotel and reached our rooms.

"Thanks for tonight." He smiled.
"You're welcome and thank you Pedri. It was a nice night." I smiled.
"It was." He replied, grinning.

We stood there for a moment, awkwardly, neither of us knowing whether to hug or wave or what to do.

"Well, goodnight," I said.
"Goodnight Y/N." He bowed his head, looking into my eyes.

After I walked inside and shut my door, Carmen greeted me with a giant hug.
"Oh my god!" I shouted. "I can't wait to hear everything".

We got ready for bed, as Carmen spilled all the details.
I had the biggest smile on my face. I was so happy for her.
Carmen herself was on cloud nine.

That night, Carmen fell asleep quickly, smiling as she drifted off. Her happiness after her date allowed her to rest peacefully.

I, on the other hand, had a bit more difficulty dozing off.

I lay wide awake, thinking about my night with Pedri.

When the waiter thought we were dating.
When I called us just 'friends', and he stared at me.
And our conversations at the beach.

But most of all, I was replaying the moment in the alleyway.
Our bodies close together.... his hands on my hips....... his face moving closer....

I shook my head.

I was probably overthinking it, only because I had a tiny little crush on him, which I'm positive meant nothing, and that I would get over soon.
