Back to Y/Ns pov.

It was the next day, and we were at training.
Carmen had a day off, and it was just me today.

Pedri came to me. "Hey", he said. "How are you feeling today?"
"I'm good" I smiled. "And thanks for the messages this morning."

Pedri had left me some texts to check up on me while I was sleeping.

"No worries. I just wanted to make sure you're okay." He smiled.
"Thanks. What about you?" I said. "Your eye looks sore".
"No, it's okay, I swear." He said. "I've had worse injuries than this, trust me. This is nothing."

Gavi walked to us.
"Pedri, coach needs you".

Pedri jogged over to Uncle Xavi.
"What happened to your eye?" I heard my uncle say.
"Nothing coach", Pedri insisted. "I walked into a wall."
"Ay be careful Pep".

When my uncle wasn't looking, Pedri looked over at me and smiled.
I smiled back.

I appreciated that he didn't say anything. Even though it was a rule that the players had to disclose of how any injuries happened outside football, Pedri didn't say how he got his black eye. None of the others said anything either. I appreciated that I could trust my friends this much.

"Hmm.", Gavi said.
My attention quickly snapped away from Pedri, and I remembered someone else was standing right next to me.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing..." Gavi replied, with a smirk.
"Gavira", I said, raising my eyebrows. "What are you on about?"
"It's .... Maybe I shouldn't say it.." Gavi said slowly. "But I've just never seen Pedri like this before. Since you've started working here, he's happier...He's still himself, but he's smiling more, he's even funnier...and I don't know how, but he's gotten even better at playing."

My heart skipped a beat.

"Seriously, I think you bring out the best in him." Gavi looked at me.

Even though I had the biggest butterflies in my chest, Gavi could be wrong.

It might just be a coincidence, and all of this probably has nothing to do with me.

"Pablito.... stop. Not true."
"Hey, it's just what I think. He's my best friend, and I know when something is up."
He flashed me a cheeky grin.

I couldn't believe this.
I mean, I guess there was a chance that Gavi was right.
I felt a wave of joy, but equally as nervous for some reason.

I decided to change the subject and started teasing him about Carmen.
We were joking and laughing around for a while until my uncle called Gavi to return to training.

After he left, I went back to doing my tasks, but what Gavi told me, kept playing on my mind.
The words were on repeat in my head.

"I think you bring out the best in him".
