I have to go back to Wakanda to deal with M'Baku. If I don't Ayo will tell him that someone knows and I'll be taken back home before I get to tell Rue the truth about everything.

It's New Year's Eve and the house is preparing for a party being held here tonight. Everyone has been so hospitable and kind here. Even though their family is huge I have had the best time since we've arrived.

I talked to Headmaster Sutton and told her I had to leave, she's having a car take me to the destination that the Royal Talon is picking me up at. I just have to inform Simon and Rue of my exit.

Simon is in the library finishing up a paper when I enter to talk to him.

"What's up, brother." I dap him up.

"Ah, not much. I'm almost done with this paper, then we can drink and have a good time. Some girls are coming that are bad as hell. I'll hook you up with a few but you know me." He laughs.

"Ooh, too bad I can't stay man, I told my family I'd meet them in Germany. They have some free time and it's been a while since I've seen them. Can't pass up that opportunity right?" I lie. I feel so shitty every time I have to tell a fib.

"Too bad sis, we would've had a ball. It's okay though, I know how much it means to be around family during this time. We can hang out back on campus though."

"For sure. I have to find Rue and your parents then I'll be on my way." I say.

"Don't forget to tell my Nana bye, she's never forgive you if you leave without saying anything."

"I said my goodbyes to her first, I'm too smart for that." I laugh. How do I tell him that this might be the last time I say goodbye? "I love you. Simon, truly. I haven't felt this sibling relationship we've built in a while, thanks for everything." I whole heartily smile.

"Of course, I love you too Kat. Is everything okay?"

"Yes, just thought I let you know how I feel before the new year."

"Remember if you need anything I'm a dial away."

"I know, I'll see you in a week." I leave the room.

I go upstairs to Rue's room where I know she'll be. Just as I hoped she's in bed taking a nap.

I sit next to her and admire her for a bit. "Rue, are you awake?" No answer.

"I'm a fraud, I've been lying to everyone. I've almost told you many times about who I truly am. I'm such a coward, I'm letting fear get in the way of showing you my true colors. You deserve nothing less Angel. I love you but I can't fully do that until I gain the courage to let you in." I wipe my tears from my eyes.

She turns over to face me. I tap her "Angel wake up, we have to talk." I tap her again. She's hesitant but she sits up.

"What's wrong princess?" She moves her braids from her face.

"I bought you something when we went shopping yesterday." I smile pulling two boxes from my pocket.

"What is it?" She smiles.

"Open them and see Angel."

"Okay, let me open the bigger one." She grins. I hand it to her. It's a gold necklace with an infinity symbol on it. I bought her a gold jewelry set for her birthday, she's obsessed with it and always has it on. I thought it was time to get her something to swap it out with.

"It's beautiful Princess." She hugs me. I hand her the other box. It's a ring with an infinity symbol just like the necklace. "Thank you, I love them." I kiss her. "You're welcome."

She wraps her arms around me. "I didn't get you anything, I'm sorry."

I shake my head. "Your presence is enough baby." I pull her closer to me and go back in for another kiss.

"I have something to tell you." She says in between kisses.

"What is it?"

"I- I love you." She says and I pull away from her shaking my head.

"Fuck."

"What do you mean 'fUcK'. That's not really the reaction I was hoping for."

"You don't love me, Rue." How could She possibly love me, she doesn't even know me.

"I do though, you inspire me and make me feel things I've never felt before."

"Rue, you don't love me. You love the feeling I give you."

"No, I know what I feel. You can't tell me that I'm not in love with you. Why are you fighting me on this?"

"I'm fighting you on this because you don't know me. You can't love someone you don't know." I stand up and start packing my things for the trip ahead.

"Well, let me know you, show me who you are. I've been begging you to let me in."

"I'm not doing this right now."

"Then when will we, give me something here? I walked into this thing with my guard down. Your walls have always been up, is it because you love someone else?"

"If I say yes will you rest your case?" I turn to her.

"I'm serious, I want to know you. I want to be there for you. Lately, it seems like I've been getting nowhere. Why does my mother get to know more about you than I do."

I want to yell at her and tell her why I don't get to be fully honest and transparent with her but the coward in me keeps taking over.

"We're supposed to be just friends." I close my eyes.

She takes my hands into hers. "Please, don't put up those walls right now just let me love you. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere, I won't hurt you." She cries.

"Maybe it's best if we don't continue whatever this is. That way we can just have a clean slate. No more secrets and lies, cut it all out before anyone gets hurt." I shrug my shoulders holding back tears.

"Just answer my question and I'll leave you alone."

I shake my head.

"Why?" She folds her arms with tears soaking her face.

"I could never feel the same way about you." I lie.

"So there is someone else." She scoffs.

"Yes. There has always been someone else. Why do you think we've kept this a secret from everyone for so long Angel?"

"I hate you, I fucking hate you." She cries.

"I'll see you around." I leave out the door. My chest is heavy and all I want to do is scream. Better now than any later, she still has time to get over it and move on. I should've just let her be in the first place, she'd be happy with Kaleb and neither one of us would be hurt. I hate that this has to be the last memory she has of me but I'd never want her to think she wasn't good enough. She's everything.
