Rue

I always wondered how my parents felt when they got the call about my sister and me. They probably thought at that moment that everything would be okay. I on the other hand would've assumed the worst before it happened.

Everything can be wonderful one minute and torn to shit the next. All it takes is three seconds of a bad decision and there goes a life. My parents probably thought they'd never have to get another call like the one they received four years ago.

Too bad life always has a plan of its own.

Earlier that day.

"You'll see me later on tonight. Stop it before you rub all of your makeup onto me." I say to Kat. She's literally kissing me to death. She's going bike riding with everyone. I opted to go hiking with Kaleb, Lottie, and Alexis.

"I'm still going to miss you Angel."

"We'll be in the same area." I giggle.

"Yeah but on two different trails." She finally pulls away.

We're about to part ways to go to our separate destinations.

"Maybe the space will be a good thing, when you come back you'll appreciate me more." I partially joke with her.

"What do you mean?" She looks at me through her black shades.

"Nothing, go. They're waiting on you." I look behind her at her group.

"Okay, call me if you need anything." She kisses my shoulder.

"I will, have fun." She walks away slowly letting go of my hand. Simon starts giving her shit as they move along to their destination.

The four of us move on as well. Alexis and Lottie walk and talk in front of Kaleb and me. We stick to the back to laugh and talk among ourselves. After meeting our guide we get situated to start our hike.

The the first hour is silent minus the sounds of the flicks of cameras here and there. "Is Alexis single?" Kaleb asks lowly.

"Yeah, why?" I smile.

"Hear me out, I think she's been flirting with me. I never knew her vibe was so immaculate."

"Awwe, that might be so but she definitely likes women. She's gay, sorry bud." I pat his shoulder.

"She just might've never met the right dude." He stares a hole into the back of her head.

"Eww, I hate guys like that. If you want to give it a go, I'd be here to patch you up when she lets you down harshly." I laugh.

"I'm definitely going to shoot my shot, once we stop though. I don't want to do it and I'm breathing heavy and sweaty."

"Point noted, he said there's a picnic area we can stop at ahead."

"Are you going to be okay if it's just you and Lottie?" He asks.

"We've been faking it up thus far, what's three more minutes going to do." I shrug my shoulders.

"Three minutes? Little one you have no faith in me at all."

"Eh, I just know Alexis. She's gay the long way."

"You were gay, I was able to shoot my shot successfully with you."

"Aht aht, I'm bisexual and to be fair I only said yes to you because Lottie pressured me to kind of." I make a teeter tot with my hands.

"You're lying!" He raises his voice.

"Yep buddy, I hate to be the one to break the news but your fake tutoring sessions and wasting your time was all for nothing. I only did it because Lottie wanted me to get out there."
