Chapter 23

You remembered what Zorro told you earlier and you thought about it for a long time. You lay around on your bed for hours just wondering what to do. The thoughts were bothering you so much that you spun yourself one way and then another, not finding peace for yourself. It was Diego telling you those words through his alter ego, and what were you supposed to do? You couldn't go to Diego and tell him about everything that was going on with you and then admit that your selfish feelings were the only thing keeping you away from a friendship with him. 

"Well, what am I supposed to tell him?" 

You made an excuse for yourself.

"Tell him, 'Diego, I'm sorry for not talking to you anymore. It's just that I fell in love with you so bad that I can't even operate correctly when I see you and even worse, I'm jealous that you and Lalita spend lots of time together.' No way am I saying anything like that to him. It's way too early to confess." 

Just then, you heard a knock on the door and went to open it. Your room was clean, and you dressed yourself, so you weren't worried about anything like that. But for some reason, your heart was racing so fast that you were able to hear only your heartbeat. You were so scared that the person behind that door was Diego, and you weren't ready to speak to him about anything just yet. You opened the door and sighed in relief, seeing it was just Maria with a letter. 

"What's the sigh for Y/N?"

Maria asked as she wondered while looking at your face. You paused and didn't answer but instead tried to change the subject to the letter Maria was holding.

"Oh. This letter just came this morning. It's from Sella to you. Please open it and send her a reply back. I'm sure she'd love to hear more from you."

She gave you the letter and was about to leave when she suddenly remembered something.

"Also, lunch will be ready in about a half hour. Don't forget to come in time for lunch. You're always late. You know, those aren't good manners for a young lady like you to develop!"

You gave her a cross smile and nodded.

"Sure, sure, I know, thank you."

You quickly closed the door and took a breather. You couldn't tell Maria about all your problems, confusion, and the real reason why you're always late for mealtimes. You sat on a chair in your room and opened the letter you received from Sella. 

Dear Y/N, 

I and Lamon have decided to come and visit you pretty soon.

It may take a long time to get to California, but we'll get packed up and ready to visit you as fast as we can.

We received our inheritance and would gladly let you come to England with us to see our new property. 

I and Lamon would also like to get married once we come back to England with you.

Don't worry, once we come, you won't live in any kind of poverty or problems! 

You'll be living in a huge castle with the two of us and we'll be together forever, the three of us!

Just wait for us! 

We're on our way!

You finished the letter and were certainly excited to see Sella and Lamon soon but worried about what they would think of you and the huge mess you made. After all, you caused problems for the Vega family and your sister would probably be mad at you. You could imagine your sister angrily looking at you for falling in love with a rich nobleman for no specific reason. You quickly stood up, saw the door to your room open, and walked towards it to see Lalita.
