"This can't keep on going!"
Katherina yelled as she slammed her hands over the coffee table in the living room.
"This - this girl, is stealing away our daughter's future!"
She exclaimed as she lifted up a fist.
"I agree with you dear, but what should we do about it?"
Carlos wondered as he sat on the opposite side of the room, facing his wife.
"Exactly. We don't know."
She answered in a grumpy way, falling back on the couch, folding her arms. They sat there like that for a couple of minutes before Lalita entered the living room. Katherina quickly sat up and faced her daughter.
"Hello Lalita!"
She cheerfully greeted her.
"Oh. Hello mom."
Lalita casually answered.
"Say, how have you been doing lately?"
She asked as she stood up and rubbed her daughters' hands with her thumbs and smiled widely at her.
"I'm fine. But why are you asking me this all of a sudden?"
She got a little nervous and swinged her head.
"Well, I just thought we got a little too distant from you. And, maybe, we could start spending time with each other a little more. We're family after all."
Carlos nodded to what his wife said, and Lalita smiled a little at her mother.
"Thank you. I guess that is true."
Katherina then went to her poker face and let her daughters' hands go.
"Well then. Why don't you sit around here with us and tell us more about yourself and what you've been doing lately. We'd really like to hear and get more informed on how our daughter has been doing."
Lalita smiled and sat down on the couch next to her mother. Katherina soon joined and started asking her questions.
"So, now that we know you're doing okay, we've wanted to know how things are going between you and Diego."
Lalita's expression suddenly changed to an annoyed one.
"Mom! I already told you! We are complete opposites, and nothing is going to work out for us! Stop trying to set us up, it won't work! He's an annoying, selfish and lazy brat that can't do anything on his own!"
The atmosphere rapidly changed, and her parents stared at her in surprise.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to yell or be rude."
Lalita replied as she lowered her head. Her parents smiled and waved their hands at her.
"No, it's ok. We understand your feelings."
Her father said.
"We won't force it on you anymore. But now that we dropped the sensitive topic, let's talk about something else. For example......"
Katherina sat and thought a moment.
"About your new best friend, she was Sella's sister, right? What was her name again......" "It's Y/N. Mom, her name is Y/N."
Lalita said with annoyance.
"Oh, right! Y/N!"
Katherina exclaimed with an awkward smile.
"Mom, literally, I mention her name every single day and I talk about her a lot at home, and you can't even remember her name after the 5 months we knew each other for?"
