It didn't take long for things to stir up again. The next day, Diego called you and Bernard to his room to discuss something serious based on his tone. The two of you tried to get to his room in the least suspicious way possible and walked in quietly. Bernard sat on Diego's red couch and you flopped down on his purple-sheeted bed while he sat on a red chair nearby.

"So, what's up, Diego?"

He stared at the two of you seriously and slowly pondered on his thoughts before speaking.

"The military's up to something weird."

You nodded.

"Yeah, I've never seen the soldiers so serious before." "And most of the soldiers are put around the Governor's manor."

Bernard added.

"What about the Governor? Did you go and spy on his house or something?"

He looked at you and leaned back slightly.

"The Governor is supposed to be coming to San Tasco today."

Diego took a moment and continued the conversation to the real topic he wanted to speak about.

"To Raymond, the arrest of Capital is more than just an accidental nuisance. Don't you guys think he might try to do something against the General Governor?"

The two of you looked over at each other before looking back at Diego.

"Something really bad may happen Diego!"

Bernard exclaimed. You nodded and Diego stood up from his place and walked in front of you two.

"Bernard, I assign you to watch over the General Governor and Y/N will help you. While I will try to find Sergeant Gonzalez and find out what's happening."

Bernard looked at you and you both nodded in agreement with what Diego said and left his room, planning on completing your newly acquired mission. It didn't take you guys long before you found out where the governor's carriage was heading and the two of you took Figaro and went after the carriage. You hid behind some thick trees before letting the carriage go into the army headquarters. After the soldiers and the carriage went inside the gates, you and Bernard crawled through some bushes and peeked at the window which clearly showed the General Governor in the main throne room while talking to Commander Raymond and Lieutenant Gabriel. After a second, The Commander pulled a gun on the Governor and the two of you started panicking. Luckily, the Commander didn't kill off the General automatically but talked with him, showed him a piece of paper, and then sent him somewhere with Lieutenant Gabriel. The two of you immediately got to Figaro and ran back to the Vega estate to find Diego and tell him about what happened. Luckily, he was already in his room, so the two of you didn't have to go looking far. Once you told him what happened, he closed the door to his room and looked the two of you dead in the eyes.

"Raymond lost the Capital and now he's able to do anything. He'll kill the General Governor and take his place. And then, he'll try to get our country independence from Spain."

The two of you were shocked to hear how twisted Raymond's actual plans were.

"This can lead to a rebellion, but no one in Spain would know about it. This may be the start of a horrible civil war in California. And once it starts, we won't be able to stop it and many people will die."

"So, we only have one chance to do this right?"

You asked him. He nodded while closing his eyes in thought.

"Exactly. That's why I'm going to fight. I'm going to protect my family and my country till the last drop of my blood."

You looked at Bernard and knew that he was thinking about the same thing as you.
