Summary: When Morpheus is imprisoned, the only power he has left is entering the mind of one single human. He tries to let you go when he is released, but eventually accepts his desire to keep you around after you get taken over by a demon.

Can't get out. Can't get out. Can't get out.

Waking up in a cold sweat, you breathed deeply. Trying to get your heart to stop racing, trying to fight the desperation and fear in your body. It always happened, feeling like you were in someone else's mind. Feeling your feelings and experiencing this horrible sense of helplessness. Until you woke up and felt like you had just broke through the surface of water. Or on the especially bad days, feeling like you were fighting through quicksand.

Another night, another nightmare seeing... being... a strange man whenever you fell asleep. You had tried everything, pills, therapy, hypnosis, but it wouldn't stop. And you didn't expect it to, it had gotten to the point where you had accepted it.

And then it stopped. Suddenly, as if it had never happened, the nightmares were over.

Your therapist congratulated you on getting through a "rough patch", your family told you how relieved you should be. But... the main thing you now felt was loneliness. The man from the dreams was gone now, and you couldn't completely tear your thoughts away from him. Ages of being connected to him whenever you dreamt, the strongest connection of your life. Now that the connection was gone and you felt like you were missing a part of yourself.

So... thus restarted the process of acceptance. You tried to adjust. It was the only thing you could do. Ignoring when you thought you could feel him, or see him out of the corner of your eye.

Until the moment where you couldn't ignore it any longer.

Standing at the bus stop, waiting for the bus to arrive. Periodically checking your watch. The same day as always. But as your eyes flickered over the cars around you, your attention was caught by a figure standing across the street.

Your breath caught in your throat as you recognised him. Not by his appearance, you had never seen him before. But the severed connection had returned when you looked at him. It was the dream man, you could feel it. It was obvious to you.

Acting purely on you instincts, you stepped towards him. Desperate to get closer and figure out what was happening. You knew he shouldn't be real, knew that he shouldn't be there.

Standing in front of the road, you had just been about to run across it when a car passed you suddenly. Stumbling backwards, your attention was stolen by the car for a moment. But when you looked back, the man was gone.

"No.. no..." You gasped. Wind whipped over your face as you stepped out onto the road. He couldn't disappear again. Not again.

The mind numbingly loud noise of a car horn in front of you was their warning as the car got closer. But a hand grabbed your arm before you could be crushed, pulling you away from the road.

"Are you stupid?" The man from your dreams asked harshly with a raised voice, staring at you with an angry intensity. "What were you thinking?"

"It's you." You couldn't believe it. "You're real."

The anger slipped slightly from his face at those words, and you had a chance to look at him properly. Pale skin, the darkest hair you had ever seen on a person, angular features. He could even be called beautiful. Hauntingly beautiful, that is.

"Yes." He told you, hand still gripping your arm as he stood over you. His voice was deep and powerful, like you would imagine a king's or a god's would be. "And so are you."
