Later that night as I walked inside the house, I saw Kate and a tall, dark guy talking and laughing with each other.

I felt happy, but sad, if Kate wanted to, she could marry the guy and then move to his pack. I had a feeling in my gut that was going to happen, but I could not go over and ask her that, it would not be polite.

"Hey, Clare, you ok?" Jason asked as I walked over to him.

"I feel like Kate and the guy she's talking to is going to get married." I muttered.

"That's good, isn't it?" he asked.

"What if she went with his pack, though?" I asked.

"Oh, I get it, you don't want to lose her... if she does, you have to respect her wish and you'll be able to see her. Me and Coal have decided that every three years we should met to make sure the alliance is still there and to report news of other packs or anything." He said.

"Why don't you guys just call each other?" I asked.

"It's better to do it in person and every three years, so in three years we'll go his territory." Jason said.

"So, we get to go to California?" I asked.

"Yes, but then after another three years, he'll come back here." He said.

I smiled and started to mentally think of California.

"His territory is near the city, so most of the time there in their human forms, they sometimes go to the edge of the Oregon and California borders for the full moon, when it gets too hot." He explained, I nodded, before smiling.

"You do realize Skylar will hug you and start to pack when you tell her." I said.

"Great." Jason said, he smiled and shook his head.

Right then a tall, blonde, tan girl walked up to me, she was SO beautiful.

"Hi, your Clare, right? And you must be Jason." She said smiling.

"Yes, and you are?" I asked her, smiling a bit.

"I'm Shelby, um... do you know where Coal is? I have his medicine." She said holding up a clear bag with a needle and a bottle of green liquid.

"He's sick?" Jason asked concerned.

"Yeah, but not that bad, last year he was shot in the shoulder by some thug, while he went out to check on his great, great grandniece, she's dying, but she's strong for a ninety-six-year-old." Shelby explained.

"What happened to Coal's shoulder?" Jason asked, he was locked on the topic, to find out about his friend.

"Well, we found out the thug had laced the bullet with arsenic." Shelby said.

"And he's not dead?" I asked shocked.

"He's a werewolf, he heals a tiny bit a day, but it's taking a long time, the medicine makes it go faster." She explained.

"He's over there talking to Rose and Bryan." Jason said pointing to my parents.

"Thanks," she said, then left and walked over to her alpha. She opened the bag and injected Coal with the green liquid.

"She seems nice." Jason said thoughtfully.

"If I could, I'd make her Coal's mate and the alpha female." I muttered.

"Time may change Coal's mind and Shelby seems to be the best for him and the pack, not Sophie." Jason added.

I nodded and then looked at him.

He looked a bit worried.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Natalie is coming soon, her wolves have been on our territory, more than once." He explained gravely.

"I don't get why we can't use a sniper rifle and shot her and Drake in the head." I muttered.

"Because, that would be murder." He pointed out.

"But if we fight them, we're still murdering."

"But the laws don't apply to wolves," Jason said, I nodded, but I still did not like it.

I shrugged and then went over to my mom, who was talking to Shelby.
