I've always disliked hospitals.

"Give me 20 cc's of epinephrine! He is losing pulse, hurry!"

The atmosphere gives me chills making it hard to wake up and go to work

"Y/N, daydreaming again?  You really picked the wrong career considering the amount of times you zone out!"

"Ah, I'm sorry, sorry. What do you need?" I quickly responded to Daiki; the doctor who just scolded me for the fourth time this month. I don't think they realize how difficult it is for me to witness death almost every time which is crazy since I've worked as a nurse for four and a half years now. You would think that I'd get used to it by the second year but I never did.

"Great job everyone" Daiki looked at everyone but me as he praised the work done to save the patient who recently got in a car accident.

Tsk, as if his praises really mean anything. Daiki's never genuine as far as I know, he's always just aiming for the money, promotion and upgrades of this hospital. It adds up to the reasons why I hate this place so much..

"Can we have a short talk, Y/N?" Doc Daiki walks towards me with his hand on his forehead as he sighed deeply like I caused some major scene to happen earlier this morning.

"What's this about, doc..if it's about this morn-"

"Of course it's about this morning, you're always out of it. It gives me the impression that you kind of loathe your line of work"

"Loathe's a bit much..I'm just drained, that's all. I won't let it happen again, I'm sorry"

"How many times have I heard this?" He slightly raised his voice but quickly closed his eyes and sighed again. "You know what, I can't talk about this right now, just keep your word" He looked at me with a hint of disappointment before looking at his clipboard.

"Angela Ruthers died , our patient from Wisconsin. I'm changing the person you're assigned to" He explained. His words seem garbled to me, I was zoning out again but I did not let it show. Just hearing about another death makes me feel numb.. Angela was in my care for weeks and just like that, she's gone.

It's exhausting

"It's sad really..but we've arranged everything and all you have to do is start with your new assigned patient. He's been here for three weeks, he's suffering from amnesia from a horrible accident so it's best that you don't ask any personal questions, got it?" He asked without making eye contact.

"Can I at least see Angela's body before they cremate her?" I ask, with a tear forming in my eye.

"Cremate?..oh yeah, she did request that. I guess, if that's what you want, sure" He responded in an insulting tone, as if he didn't understand the reason I had for wanting to see my former patient.

Not a hint of sympathy or care in his body..

"So you got all of that, right? I want you to meet with this patient right away tomorrow, his name is uh-

He paused to look at the clipboard he was holding to look at the patient's name which was supposed to be the first thing he should've done, how irresponsible, I thought to myself.
