"Ryuk, if I gave you something fun and entertaining to do..would you consider obeying my every word?" Light turned his head as he waits for Ryuk's response.
Ryuk grunted and then it turned to henious cackles. "You sure know how to convince a shinigami like me, Light" He paused before floating right next to him. "What do you want me to do?"
I could see that Light was having a little difficulty with this one. He knew he had to get rid of Riku before he blabs about Light's identity but he can't..
Is he hesitating because of me? Would the old Light have killed anyone who stood in his way of achieving the perfect world he's always dreaming about?
Is it too much to think that I was the one who was able to change his egoistic personality and narcissistic behavior..
yeah, maybe.
...
"y/n. what are you up to? I feel like I barely see you nowadays, that's considered lazing off, you know" Doc Daiki lightly shakes his head in disapproval upon seeing me in the hospital.
"Doc, you might want to hold off on that lecture because I have some great news" I plastered a wide smile, the one that carried the best kind of news.
"W-what is it?" He anxiously replied, waiting for the revelation.
"Light has been found" I answered, waiting for him to notice the man behind me.
"Light..?" He slowly walks towards him right before stopping to look at him from head to toe. "You're actually here..safe and sound?" Doc was having a hard time forming his sentence, mumbling through words.
I knew he'd be this shocked but not to the point of tears.. guess it must've been hard on him.
"I'm so glad you're okay" He says in between sniffles. "W-where exactly have you been?"
"I was..I wasn't kidnapped by anyone. I left of my own volition" Light spoke assertively.
"What're you talking about..?" Doc's brows creased in confusion.
I wonder if this plan of his would work..
"I actually started recovering most of my memories and when I did, it was too much even for me. I had hallucinations, painful migraines and high fevers. I know I wasn't supposed to leave the hospital but I didn't feel safe at all, I was trying to run away" He explained. While most of what he said is a lie, he did experience migraines and fevers.
"..." Doc Daiki was speechless. He couldn't bring himself to react in any way. Of course, Light predicted this and tried to be ahead of him.
"I know what I did really caused a ruckus and it might have stirred things up with the police but don't worry about it, I'll explain everything to them and-
"You're telling me my brother's innocent..?" Doc mumbled under his breath. "Riku didn't kidnap you after all, I was mistaken" Doc's confused expression slowly turned into a smile of relief. It was clear how happy he was at that moment of realization.
"Yes, I am also glad your brother turned out to be innocent. I apologize for having any suspicions" I softly spoke.
"No, no. I also had my doubts on my own brother. I'm just happy to know he isn't as bad as I thought" He sighed; his nerves calm as ever. "But if you left, where did you stay?"
"Ah, I bounced from place to place. I had access to the bank account my dad set up for me so I had enough money to stay in a few hotel rooms until I felt safer to come back here.." Light acted uncomfortable talking about it so Doc wouldn't ask any more questions.
"We apologize for not tending to your care, that must've been a horrible experience." Doc gently wraps his shoulder around Light, leading him to the nearest vacant hospital room. "I'll ask y/n to run some tests and do a quick check-up just to figure out what caused it if that's ok-"
"Actually, I think it's much better if I return home, my dad must be anxious to see me and I have gotten a lot better since.. right, nurse y/n?" Light interrupts Doc Daiki, eager to step out of this hospital and carry out the rest of his plan.
"Ah, yes. He has improved tremendously. His wound is almost fully healed now and by hospital regulations, he doesn't have to stay here anymore" I smiled.
"..Okay, that's a relief. Well, let's process your documents so you can be discharged"
Wow, that's it? Doc really isn't asking any more questions about it, huh. Light was once again, correct. Doc Daiki would be too focused on the fact that his brother is innocent to even ponder about Light's whole situation. He didn't even ask about the credit cards of the chief Light supposedly "used" .
"The police will definitely visit you and ask a lot of questions regarding your disappearance so just cooperate and tell them everything you told me. Then.. this long nightmare will finally be over" Doc Daiki's shoulders relaxed in a deep sigh of relief.
I can't believe it. We might actually get away with this.. though I can't shake the feeling of worry over this battle between the man I love and the man who tried to kill him. I wonder..
who would win?
Hey, author here. I apologize for disappearing for so long! I got caught up in a lot of stuff but rest assured, I'll do my best to continue this fic and finish it as soon as I can, thank you for the support!
