Doc's question echoed inside my head multiple times, as if mocking my decisions..
As I step foot into his car, I realized the insanity of what I was about to do; I'm literally going to my boss' house to steal something from him and still continue to see him everyday at work. The thought was driving me insane, I felt as if I couldn't breathe.
"Are you okay, y/n? You look a little pale. Let me know if it's too hot in here, I can turn up the ac" He softly tells me as he blasts the ac to the coldest level.
"I'm fine.. I guess I was just a little tired from the surgery I assisted" I lied. I didn't even do much, I remember spacing out for a mere few seconds.
"Ah, I'm sorry for bringing you to my apartment, you should be resting instead after a long surgery like that" He nervously chuckles, stopping right before a red traffic light.
"I would rather help with whatever I can offer, I know how important this is for you despite your hatred towards Riku" I flashed a smile, one that carried a huge feeling of guilt.
"Thank you, y/n. We're almost there" He utters, watching the road. I felt a heavy weight on my shoulders as I lean back on the passenger seat, as if the seatbelt was choking my throat.
Am I really willing to go this far for Light? I am aware that this isn't even the craziest thing that I'll do but honestly, it's already a scary start.
"Alright, this is my apartment. Let's go?" Doc Daiki smiles as he steps out of the car and I follow him. My mind felt like it had a big ball of thoughts just swirling around. Every time I do something insane for Light, I get anxious and my heart beats a thousand times faster.
As a nurse, I should be really concerned about this.
"Please take a seat, I'll make your tea" He immediately walks into the kitchen and starts opening drawers to prepare my hot beverage. As I watch him carefully handle the mug, a thought pops into my head which just might work.
"Thank you, Doc" I gently take the mug from his hands and as soon as he lets go, I meticulously let it slip from me, letting it fall on the floor and break into tiny little pieces.
"Agh! I am so sorry! Oh, the tea.. what a waste, I'm so sorry" I quickly stood up and painted a shocked expression all over my face.
"No, it's alright. Are you okay? I should've warned you that the mug was hot. It was my bad, let me just go clean this up"
"O-okay.. but will you please tell me where the bathroom is? I guess it spilled a little on my uniform, I would need this for tomorrow" I chuckled, occasionally rubbing my stained uniform.
"Yes, down the hall to the right. There's a towel there and some soaps. If you need anything, just let me know" He sighs before smiling, frantically hurrying to get tissues and a mop.
"Yes, thank you. I'll be right back" I smiled a little, rushing to the bathroom. As I walk down the hall like he instructed, I covertly glanced to my sides, trying to memorize the outline of the place, familiarizing myself with every corner and rooms I pass by.
Where can the death note be?
Just then, Light's voice entered my mind. He reminded me that the death note could be in some sort of protective case or container so I must look out for those specifically.
Oh, here's the bathroom..
Doc told me to turn right but I'm disobeying him which I always do so right now won't even make a difference..
I turned left and entered an opened room. It looked like the master bedroom after I turned the lights on.
"A container.." I whispered under my breath while I rigidly walk on my tiptoes, producing minimum noises as much as possible. I could feel my breathing get heavier as my surrounding gets quieter, my face started to sweat and my feet couldn't feel the ground.
...Where is it?
"y/n..? What are you doing in my room?"
