"Man, are the police even doing their job? How long has it been since Light was kidnapped?" Hara groaned as she loudly brings her hands to the table.

"I know, it's driving me crazy. They should really start identifying suspects other than Doc's brother. What if it we're focusing way too much on Riku and the real culprit is out there roaming freely?" I tried to share the possibility of other suspects to lure Doc Daiki into inquiring more about what I know as a way to get invited to his apartment.

"You really think so? Isn't it a little far-fetched since Riku's the only one caught visiting his room? I mean, who else would've kidnapped a genius innocent kid who lost his memories?"

"Well, I kind of have a, what you call it? a theory of who might have kidnapped him" I explained, subtly looking around if Doc Daiki was anywhere near the area and to my surprise, he was right behind, walking up to me.

"A theory, you say, y/n?" Doc Daiki quietly asks me with a concerned look on his face. "Do you mind sharing it with me?"

"Oh, Doc Daiki. I didn't see you there, how long have you been listening..?" I turned my head to face him, deftly changing my expression. An expression that would trick most people.

"I just happened to pass by.. are you talking about another possible suspect other than Riku? It would be great for my brother if there was"

"Yeah..and I'd be willing to share it with you Doc but unfortunately, my break is over and I have a scheduled surgery to assist"

"Right..then are you free tonight? If you're okay with having tea at my place, I'd really like to find more about this case..I hate Riku but he's still my brother"

And he took the bait without a second thought.

"Sure, I'm free..I'm surprised that you're approaching me about this sir, frankly, it's the first time"

"Yes..I know. Forgive me y/n for my hurtful words and comments towards you. I realize that I've never once asked for your forgiveness" He sighs, troubled by his past actions. "I'm hoping you could put it all behind us because my brother desperately needs help"

"It's alright Doc. I was already used to it, anyways. I considered it as something similar to tough love parenting"

"Really? Well, I'm glad you see it that way..then I'll come get you later?" He smiles warmly and walks away.

I couldn't tell if he was being genuine or if he was faking it so he could help his brother out but it doesn't matter..

At the end of the day, I only need to get into his apartment.

"Light, you finally picked up. What were you doing..?" I anxiously asked him over the phone after he answers my third call.

"My bad y/n, I was taking a nap. I've been so tired lately and it's causing a mild headache" He replies with a raspy voice and a yawn right after.

"Are you alright? You shouldn't stay in front of a laptop so much. I'm confiscating that for a while and I'm taking some meds home for you to drink, okay?" I worriedly told him.

"Yes, yes. Don't worry about me. Anyways, why'd you call, my nurse?"

"Ah, I totally forgot. Doc Daiki invited me to his apartment tonight. He wants to know more about the Riku case, what do I tell him? And how am I supposed to get the notebook?"

"He wants to know about a possible suspect, right? Then let's give him one, a false lead. Then find a way to create a distraction so you could search for the notebook"

"Wouldn't that harm an innocent person?"

"No, I'll make sure to give you a name of a criminal that has escaped from jail several times so even if he's framed, he'll get the jail time he deserves"

"..Okay. Well, that sounds like a great plan but a lot of work. Are you sure you can handle all that?"

"Yes, truth is, I was up all night, learning how to break into my dad's police records and files. I haven't fully succeeded yet but I'm getting the hang of it. I'll send the person's file to you in a minute"

"What? I told you to rest, Light" I let out a deep, weary sigh. "Just..quickly send it to me and go back to sleep. I don't want to come home and see you in my living room, glued to your screen again, alright?" I firmly instructed over the phone.

"..Yes, ma'am. Forgive me for stressing you out again" He nervously utters.

"It's alright..I'm hanging up now, drink water and don't wait up for me" I ended the call, placing my phone in my back pocket as I walked out of the restroom.

...

"You ready to go, y/n?"
