"you are confident," she says. well, yes, if confidence is convincing yourself not to care so you won't be quite so hurt. if confidence is showing only what each person wants to see and wearing an ego that never belonged to you. if it is yearning for attention to keep your pain shoved deep down inside. confidence is a silly concept, because it is almost never what it seems, it is a facade. behind that mask, is often one who has been hurt, one who is numb and starved of attention. a carefully crafted persona, that lack of insecurity. when you find yourself thinking one confident, it is nearly guaranteed that person is riddled with the very thing they seem not to have. that person may hate their personality, so they compensate with a physical appearance that attracts praise. maybe they hate their body, so they make up for it by being the loudest in the room. confident people tend to be the most anxious, the most false. they requite their supposed flaws with a performance, and beg for no one to see through it.
