Two lovers gaze,
Watching paths collide.
Reflecting waters glisten,
Rippling under water lilies. One with eyes like dawn and dusk,
Another's like half-dead foliage.
Slow footfalls vibrate silently,
Shaking tiny creepy crawlies.A shard of glassy moon shines,
Mirroring in the reservoir below.
The universe holds its breath,
Waiting for lovers' devoted embrace.A tale as old as dirt and cobwebs,
Lovers' fingers tie together.
Even cicadas ceased to chirp,
And no frogs dared croak.A nippy wind rushed through,
Biting at lovers' necks and ears.
Their eyes melted to match the flood,
Lovers' flesh becoming lotus flowers.Dissolving eyelids fall away,
But lovers' hands stay roped.
A great grey glides overhead,
Blotting out the sole glow.Time would keep its tempo,
The moon would wax and wane.
But two lovers froze in place,
Two hearts pulsed nevermore.
