THE GRAND FEAST HALL WAS ADORNED WITH OPULENCE AND SPLENDOUR, a testament to the celebration that was about to unfold. Glistening chandeliers hung from the ornate ceiling, casting a warm glow over the room. Elaborate tapestries depicting scenes of valour and triumph adorned the walls, adding a sense of regality to the atmosphere.

At the far end of the hall, on a raised platform, stood the high table where Jieun and Riki were seated. The empty throne of King Jaeho, a poignant reminder of his absence due to illness, loomed behind Jieun. To her right, the seat of honour, awaited the presence of Jungwon, but it remained vacant, a stark contrast to the bustling activity surrounding it. Lady Kim, resplendent in her regal attire, sat beside the empty seat, her poise radiating both elegance and intrigue.

To the left of Lady Kim, her brother Sunoo took his place, his gaze wandering across the hall, sharp and attentive. Lord Kim, their father, sat beside Sunoo, his expression carrying a mix of pride and reservation. The hierarchy of the Kim family was evident in their seating arrangement, each chair reflecting the carefully crafted dynamics of power and influence.

As for Jieun, she exuded a graceful presence, her posture regal and composed. Dressed in resplendent attire befitting her newfound status, she captivated the attention of the room with her commanding presence. Yet, behind her serene facade, her thoughts drifted to the empty seat beside her, a subtle reminder of the absence of Jungwon, the one who had been destined to stand by her side.

As the feast progressed, Jieun could not help but feel a growing sense of frustration at Jungwon's absence. Her gaze would occasionally drift to the empty chair beside her, where he was meant to sit as the representative of their house. But it remained vacant, a stark reminder of his defiance and the shame it brought upon their family.

She had hoped that Jungwon would put aside his grievances, his disdain for tradition, and stand by her side on this momentous occasion. Yet, his absence spoke volumes, amplifying the tension that simmered beneath the surface. Jieun could not help but wonder what had led him to lock himself away in his chambers, shunning his responsibilities and casting doubt upon their family's unity.

While the feast hall reverberated with laughter and mirth, Jieun's heart was burdened by a mix of disappointment and concern. She could not deny the whispers that circulated among the guests, speculating on the meaning behind Jungwon's absence. It was not just a matter of tradition, but a question of loyalty and devotion to their family's legacy.
