IN THE COUNCIL ROOM, THE DISCUSSION SHIFTED TOWARDS THE PRESSING MATTER OF GAINING SUPPORT FROM THE FREE MEN TO CONTROL PARTS OF THE PITCHED SEA. Riki leaned forward, his voice carrying a hint of urgency.

'We need the support of the Free Men to secure our control over the Pitched Sea,' Riki emphasized, his eyes scanning the faces of the counselors. 'Their allegiance will strengthen our position and solidify our dominion over vital trade routes.'

Jieun listened intently, contemplating the words spoken. A determined look settled upon her face as she realised the significance of the task at hand. She turned towards Riki, her voice steady with conviction.

'I will bear the message myself,' Jieun declared, her gaze meeting Riki's. 'A mere letter won't suffice to gain the trust and commitment of the Free Men. I must travel there in person and speak directly about forging an alliance.'

Riki's expression tightened, a mix of concern and annoyance flickering across his face. He swiftly interjected, his voice tinged with worry.

'My love, it's too dangerous,' Riki cautioned, his tone laced with protective concern. 'The journey is treacherous, and your safety is paramount. We have trusted emissaries who can deliver the message on our behalf.'

Jieun held Riki's gaze, her determination unwavering. She understood his worry, but her resolve remained unyielding.

'Riki, I appreciate your concern, but being there in person is more convincing,' Jieun replied, her voice filled with conviction. 'I can build trust, establish a personal connection, and demonstrate our commitment to the alliance. The Free Men need to see that I am fully invested in this endeavor.'

Riki's brows furrowed, his worry transforming into a mild frustration. He leaned forward, countering Jieun's statement. 'Jieun, I understand your intentions, but we can send a trusted envoy in your stead. It's too risky for you to undertake such a perilous journey.'

'It is precisely because of the risk that I must go,' she argued. 'This alliance is crucial for the stability and future prosperity of our kingdom. I cannot expect others to shoulder this responsibility when I am fully capable and willing to do so.'
