JIEUN'S HEART SWELLED WITH ANTICIPATION AS RIKI GUIDED HER GRACEFULLY ONTO THE POLISHED DANCE FLOOR. The grand hall seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them in an enchanting world of their own. The soft, melodic strains of music filled the air, enveloping them in a timeless embrace.
Their bodies moved in perfect synchronisation, each step a testament to their deep connection. Jieun surrendered herself to the rhythm, allowing Riki to lead her effortlessly through the intricate dance. Their movements were a reflection of their partnership, a harmonious blend of strength and grace.
'The girl with him, Riki, it's his servant girl,' Jieun whispered to Riki, her frustration evident in her voice as she looked up at him. 'They are openly showing their relationship after labelling Lady Kim as a traitor.'
'Let them be fools,' he said firmly, his voice laced with a hint of irritation.
'He may love her, but the shame he brings to our house, to me,' she lamented, her tone heavy with disappointment and regret.
'You are not bound to the legacy of your house, Jieun,' Riki sighed, his voice filled with both understanding and reassurance.
But Jieun's resolve remained unyielding. 'Doesn't matter. With every breath and every step he takes, he soils Jiho's name and the reputation of our house,' she muttered, her words tinged with sorrow as she remembered her late brother, Jiho. And then, a spark of an idea ignited within her. 'Although, if he would rather marry a servant girl, then so be it. That would leave House Kang open for alliance since they have sworn themselves to be neutral between the West and East. They wish to be their own kingdom.'
'So clever,' Riki murmured, almost cooing it ut.
'We cannot linger on the dance floor indefinitely, Riki. We must engage in social interactions, form alliances swiftly,' Jieun whispered, her lips brushing against his ear as her gaze swept across the mingling lords. 'While this may be our wedding, everyone is equally eager to gain our favor. They covet our wealth, our renown, and perhaps seek to secure marriages between their own heirs and ours.'
'Our heirs?' Riki questioned, his curiosity piqued.
'In due time,' Jieun replied with a sigh, her voice laced with a mix of anticipation and apprehension.
